Hodges view from the sideline next week

Didn't coach Robbo make the claim that the Roosters never play for penalties or would never take a dive?
Euan Aitken was the Dragons player he accused of taking a dive and Robbo sooked for a week. Therefore, based on that, Hodges must've lifted him as Guerra would never play for a penalty?

Great paragraph there but Guerra said in the papers THAT HE JUMPED

at no point is his right hand in between his legs
he only has a grip on the ankle if there is any lift it is very small and it appears Guerra attempts to move forward causing the overbalance

I'm no hodges fan but no way that deserves a suspension

Where is his right hand then?

Reaching around from behind and between the legs - perhaps he was just trying to cop a feel?

On his quad, and then on his hip. Never between his legs.

Hodges will probably still cop a week for this - so be it, but make no mistake - Guerra's actions were the main contributing factor for him being in a dangerous position. He did a front flip.

Trent Robinsons players don't dive for penalties
Wayne Bennett has a strong stand against lifting tackles and believes they should be penalised harshly and the nrl doesn't do enough to eradicate them from the game.
Bit of lost credibility there and both are on the comitee that decides rule changes.
Guerra may have jumped but Hodges still contributed to putting him in that dangerous position. People have been suspended for less.
Guerra's statement might not be enough, didn't sbw go in to bat for isaac Lukes tackle last year?

Actually this makes Hodges look worse, what was Guera supposed to do? Hodges is pulling both his hip and leg backwards, it's Hodges own stupid fault if he misses the GF.

All things being fair he should miss the game.

Won't be surprised if the game caves and let's him play though.

They say you need some luck throughout the season to win the trophy, we could use some now.

Guerra obviously jumps but at the end of the day players should have more sense then to lift these days and Hodges definitely does that.

Why was he in a position to do that in the first place?
Perhaps Hodges shouldn't have lifted his leg.

Then they're gonna have to crack down on players lifting legs in all tackles. It happens in so many tackles where the tackled player doesn't do a front flip.

If Guerra didn't jump and flip (as he has admitted to doing) that tackle would have ended like countless others in that match and any other match. That will be the defence Hodges will put forward, and it's quite a credible one. Only time will tell which way the judiciary will go.

Do broncos fans honestly not understand that Guerra - being a QLD team mate of Hodges - is doing his level best to try and get him off by claiming to have speared himself?

SBW did the same thing for Issac Luke last year, despite the fact he clearly did the wrong thing then too. I bet you could even find quotes from Thaiday back in 2008 declaring that Smith trying to twist his head off as being somehow his fault.

Fact is Hodges picked up the leg of a stationary player and lifted it past the horizontal. Its a suspension every day of the week and clearly his fault. Guerra at best could have positioned himself better to land on his chest or shoulder, but he was always going over.

Yes we understand he's helping a mate, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's lying. You can clearly see that Guerra jumps off his right leg.

I hear Guerra is going to attend the hearing and give evidence. Based on this I fully expect Hodges to be cleared.

After Dave Smith's passionate speech last night about player safety and the lengths they've gone to so they can eliminate lifting tackles, it would be pretty embarrassing to see a guy get off the very next night.

Then again, it's the MRC.

I am still confused as to why he isn't attending the judiciary for a second charge of making physical contact with a referee...
