The Cat Empire had 4 as well

I dunno how you can blame triple J for that though - its the listeners that do the voting.

you can't blame JJJ

Its the voters choice.

I didn't mind it this year...at least real bands rose above the IT Nerds.

On lyrics alone it should have been no 1...Fuggen Gold !!
Very funny stuff.

Vulcanize the whoopee stick
In the ham wallet

Cattle prod the oyster ditch
With the lap rocket

Batter dip the cranny ax
In the gut locker

Retrofit the pudding hatch
Ooh la la
With the boink swatter

If i get you in the loop when I make a point to be straight with you then
In lieu of the innuendo in the end know my intent though
I brazillian wax poetic so pathetically
I don't wanna beat around the bush

Foxtrot Unifrom Charlie Kilo
Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo

Marinate the nether rod
In the squish mitten

Power drill the yippee bog
With the dude piston

Pressure wash the quiver bone
In the bitch wrinkle

Cannonball the fiddle cove
Ooh la la
With the pork steeple

If i get you in the loop when I make a point to be straight with you then
In lieu of the innuendo in the end know my intent though
I brazillian wax poetic so pathetically
I don't wanna beat around the bush

Foxtrot Unifrom Charlie Kilo
Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo

Put the you know what in the you know where
Put the you know what in the you know where
Put the you know what in the you know where
Put the you know what in the you know where pronto

Yes but you can blame them for playing the same bands over and over and over again. If loyal JJJ listeners were to hear a greater range of music than what is presented to them they wouldn't find themselves with such a small selection from which to choose.

The Js really just play one genre now. 2Day plays pop, Triple M generic rock and Triple J alternative rock. It used to be difficult to categorise what the Js played because there was such variety - no longer I'm afraid.

I agree - it's such a predictable list. Where's the variety? Triple J used to pride themselves on being different and playing all sorts of different sh*t but not anymore. And how can a top 100 have so many songs by the same bands?

Bernard Fanning - 2
Ben Lee - 3
Sarah Blasko - 2
Wolfmother - 6!!!

So what they're saying is that there aren't 100 artists worthy of mention from the past 12 months.

Poor list yet again. Used to be interesting in the early days.

One thing of interest. From memory back in the "old days" i.e. before everyone had the internet - the process for voting would have been a lot harder i.e. get a form, write out your songs then mail it in.
Nowadays anyone can vote in 5 minutes on the internet - perhaps more people now vote and are not just the music nerds of yesteryear who would have been really interested.
Also, now Triple J goes out to more country areas who probably don't have access to any other decent music e.g. not many venues for live bands, no speciality record stores, no different sub-cultures, etc. as people in Sydney and Melbourne would

yes but they're all specialty shows that get an hour or two a week.

Full Metal Racket used to be called Three Hours of Power until they lopped an hour off. Two hours of metal a week? That's crap.

They should mix it all into one big melting pot and play it all day.

What a load of crap..."triplej-ish" all the songs on the list are played on triple j and therefore people have the right to vote for who ever they like. Ben Lee and Bernard Fanning released massive albums in 2005 that appealed to all types of music lovers of course they were going to poll well. The j's have been playing Ben Lee songs for the last 10 years while commercial stations have only picked him up after his latest album, and i dont think you are going to hear songs like 'bloody mother f**king arsehole" by martha wainwright or Mountain Goats songs on any other station so quit winging because your song didnt win and except the fact that thousands of people voted and that is how it all worked out..

I was kinda suprised this one didn't poll higher, I guess it was released too early in the year

I'd like to see the total number of votes Wolfmother got for all the songs that made it, and compare it to the total number that Ben Lee got. I'd imagine Wolfmother got more votes overall, but people voted for their favourite song and spread the results out. More commendable than rating highly for one obvious choice song.

I prefer the first three tracks on the album, particularly Take Your Mama Out, although if I'm not mistaken that was actually released in '04.

I couldn't believe that Shihad didn't make it either - I listened to all but 15 of the songs yesterday, and thought that I may have missed it, but reading the full list today, nothing! I really would have thought that one of their songs would have made it.

Im kinda suprised it came in as high as it did as it was kinda 'left over' from the album which came out last year. Other tracks im suprised didn't make it were 'King Of The Rodeo' by KOL, 'My Ego' by Regurgitator and i thought 'Gabrielle' would rank MUCH higher. Then again, i didn't even know the Foo Fighters released an album recently...
