A catchy title to get your attention, ok here we go how long have you been following the eels, and how did it all get started for you? Me since I was a wee girl, and my mum used to take me so it kept going from there.

Eric Jnr is that you?? He ALWAYS asks us that question when he sees us. I thought old man was gunna ask us on Friday night.

For me it started when my friends Dad used to take us up to Granville Park where the players used to train. Eric Snr was having trouble with his knees then and whilst the boys were training he used to just do laps of the field. Then a few years later I actually went to a game (I was 13) and I have hardly missed a home game since.

my family moved back to sydney (from melbourne) when I was 5 - and we lived at Castle Hill which is Parra territory - so I guess it was just a geographical thing ..... my mum used to go for the bulldogs back then (she grew up in the canturbury area - but she switched to parra when the scum went to super league - yay mum!) - so I'm damn lucky I didn't follow her down that path ... I think my dad adopted parra cos they were going well in 1977 and I was 5 so just went along with it

Sounds like my friends kid who is destined to follow parra.. At 6 months his mum would stand in front of the Eels team photo and ask "where's Fui" and he would point straight to Fui Fui. He is now 20 months old and can do the parra chant. Cant wait til he is old enuff to come to the footy!! lol.

i was a bandwagoner in 2001 thats how it happened
But i didn't have a team from before as i had moved to Australia in 2000. The year i descovoered football was a good year for parra so i stuck with them.

Background Life Story

Born in Sydney. When I was 5, due to a promotion my father received, we moved from Sydney and went to The Netherlands. We stayed there for 2 years, then moved to Chile. After 4 years, we moved from there to Finland. After 2 years there, we moved to Spain. And after 4 years in Spain, in the year 2000, we moved back home to Sydney.

OK. Now, my father used to regale me with tales of this great man, Ray "Mr. Perpetual Motion" Price. A man who was tough as nails and got him really into the sport of rugby league (prior to this, he'd played union at school and knew nothing about league). He used to tell me how passionate he was, and how great the sport of rugby league was.

At around this time, 1999, the Rugby Union World Cup was on, and so I began taking an interest in the Wallabies (a matter of national pride). We won, and I began to like Union. But my dad used to always tell me League was better.

When we finally moved back to Sydney, my dad's passion, in combination with the fact my whole family supports the Eels, swayed me into following the Eels and learning about the sport. I am glad to say I have never loked back since.

being a Parra local, it seemed the right thing to do

I played for Parra Marist, and Cumberland Oval was just a 3 iron up the road.

We went to Cumberland Oval every second Saturday, no such things as night games or Sunday games back then.

All my dad's side followed the Eels and his sister [my aunt] took me to a game when I was just little [all I did was roll down the hill] but later on she took me to the GF in 1999 [I was 9] where she had bought me an Eels flag and we watched the Reserve Grade GF where we won the premiership and all I could ask after that was when was the next game.

Then in 2000 we went to the GFQ where we lost and I asked could I go to more games so we became season ticket holders in 2001 and haven't moved from those seats since then :D

I live in Dogs territory, and I cannot support them (yuck). I just chose Parra and have been supporting them ever since, plus my dad played in sea grade for them and won a comp

I live in NZ and nowhere near Auckland (which I hate with a passion), so I just picked the Eels. Good choice on my behalf I believe. :)

When I was about 5, I was a huge Grant Kenny fan from his Nutragrain ads. My Dad was watching the saturday arvo game on the abc one day and the eels were playing. I watched Brett Kenny carve up the opposition and just loved it because i thought the commentater was calling him Grant Kenny. I got it into my head that this must be the man that the character on the ads was based on. I told mum my theory who shattered my dreams quite quickly but i decided i liked Brett Kenny anyway and have been an eels supporter ever since.
