Nobody kicked anything fella.

Can you kick something when you're three feet off the ground?

His allowed to run in and put pressure on the catcher. If you have any league experience chasing the kick is quite important so the fullback doesn't get an easy take.

I've noticed slater do this kick move nearly every take. It is dangerous, even if he is protecting himself.. The rule in place is to protect him ie not tackle the kicker. Also his excuse is bs. He sticks the boot out to keep players back.

We used to play against a similar fullback. It's a scummy move.

No real problem with it. Reminded me of Manu Vatuvai's knee to Sam Thirdguy head last year(?). Both accidental.

:lol:mad:johns: "he's not that kind of player". And :lol:mad:lewis: "now every time a bomb goes up players will be running towards Billy's leg".

He clearly straightened the leg "to protect himself" In other words to kick the oncoming player

So many sooks on this forum! What does it matter if every fullback jumps like that? Klemmer ran into him. Once the bloke is in the air catching the bomb, let him do whatever he pleases - because is you make contact with him in the air, you're the one to blame. If you're jumping to contest the bomb against the fullback, the foot position won't be a factor. The moment Slater or whoever else hits the ground, he can't do that - but in the air it's fine.
Good old tall poppy syndrome. Have fun sniffling into your tissues.

With the crackdown on the play the ball and the reduced need for having wrestling coaches, which melbourne pioneered, ive heard they have taken on the services of one mr myagi.

Did he actually kick Klemmer in the head? Or, while his leg was in the air did Klemmer simply hit it first.

I've sen him on a number of times throw the legs around wildly but like cam smith said if Klemmer isn't runnin in for the tackle than no incident.

Maybe a week as a warning to other players?

You know it isn't against the rules to put pressure on the guy cathing the bomb?

People are making out it was a sure thing Klemmer was going to tackle him. He had plenty of time to pull out.

Code for 'I want to make a charge for everything Slater does'.

The problem with that statement is that they have had to do so because he does dangerous stuff - ie sliding in studs up, sticking the boot out at incoming players when leaping for a bomb.

The kick to the face happened before any mid-air tackle could be completed.

Skeepelogic 101 - if you believe you are about to be tackled mid-air while contesting a bomb, lash out with your boot and everything will be fine.

Every day you reach new levels of dumb f**kery.

Your use of the words "lash out" indicates that Slater moved his leg in Klemmer's direction and made contact that way.

What actually happened was Slater jumped, never changed stance, and made contact with Klemmer.

Also, the referees erred in reversing the penalty. The rules state that a referee cannot change his decision unless he is alerted to a prior incident of foul play. Even if they thought what Slater did was deserving of a penalty, you could hardly say that it occurred prior to Klemmer making the mid-air tackle, given that it happened in the act of making it.

It was at best simultaneous, which means they cannot reverse the decision of a penalty to Melbourne.
