I don't agree with this. JWH was intent on hitting Rose hard, wanted to hurt him, and he f**ked it up and got him high. That does not mean he should escape. It was evident he wanted to hurt him considering the two were at each other all match. Even after he hit him he laid all over him and gave him a mouthful on the ground. Perhaps it was an accident that he caught him in the head, but it was definitely reckless and has been graded appropriately.
I'd hope at the professional level that most players, or forwards at least, want to hurt one another. Guys like JWH have the role of going out to hurt, dominate and intimidate the opposition, that's what they're paid for, and as long as forwards are keeping the challenges legal all is fair. It went wrong obviously but I'd say Manly players and fans would appreciate more than anyone the importance of that kind of player, seeing as Manly is filled to the brim with aggressive merkins. They'd probably also understand it sometimes happens, in the last few weeks both Matai and Fa'aso have been on the wrong side of lady luck.
A red card and a week off is plenty warning to be more careful in future. Anything else is just over the top. This talk of him facing 5-7 weeks? Give me a break. 5-7 weeks because some merkin effectively falls over when they're running at the line?
The system seriously needs looking at.
