Reckless doesn't mean intentional. Like a motorist who speeds in a school zone.... He didn't go out trying to hit a kid but the result of his actions are reckless.
Latrell was running at Manu as quick as he could without time to tackle him correctly. His intent was to hit Manu with force and got it wrong. The speed in which he came at Manu was reckless.
The same as a speeding driver no time to stop.
This is correct. It was an accident and it was reckless.

I do take umbrage to anyone who thinks it was deliberate, or thuggish, or any of that nonsense.

playing? I mean how many missed tackles, dropped balls, penalties given away, wrong decisions does a player make in a game? The day the ref can do an interview and bag off players and coaches for stuffing up is the day the coaches should be able to bag off refs!

Silly comment

the players making mistakes has no effect on the outcome for referees.

I just dont understand why people who murder aren't treated the same as people who just slap another person in the face.
Do you understand murder requires intent? And killing without intent is manslaughter, manslaughter convictions are a spectrum but they include sentences as light as zero prison time.

So when it comes to unlawful killing we are talking a range from 0 to 20+ years. They don't give a long sentence automatically just because the outcome was a death.

Just like here the big big charges, the reckless charges and the long suspensions should be reserved for the worst of the worst and it should not be based on injury.

Reckless should mean deliberately dangerous in a way that does not belong in footy. A typical attempt at a hard upper body tackle is not reckless. And again, if there was no injury it never gets a reckless charge. A reckless charge should be based solely on the tackler's actions, this was not.

Pretty sure running as fast as you can and hitting a bloke flush in the face with your shoulder doesn't belong in footy! It was reckless with high potential to cause serious injury, which was proved by the injury it caused. 6 weeks is light imo.

Gus is delusional, on 100% footy he blamed the tackle on Manu (paraphrasing) "ducking and looking inside for an offload".
Unbelievable.
I dont know what to make of Gus, does he do it to get a reaction or does he really believes what he says?

He's taken on a shock jock role, just being controversial for the sake of headlines and clicks on social media. He's also bought into his own hype about how he could run the game and knows everything that's wrong with it, and can fix any club, and could solve Afghanistan if he wanted to.....

Its Ironic all those indiscretions are done with him playing for Souths.
He definitely played on the edge with us as well but didn't seem to cross the line. If you listen to those in the know, Latrell is high maintenance and the club had to very delicately manage him including given him time off to see his family, managing his emotions and directing his anger etc.

I have no idea what souths are doing but it appears they are letting him go unchecked.

Souths have the Book of Feuds.
The Roosters have the Sook of Feuds.
Book of fueds lol more like book of the dead, but seriously Souths supporters are the biggest whingers of the entire league world, you hear them everyday on sport radio, as well as in these forums.

There is definitely a victim mentality at Souths , they are always hard done by ... be it other clubs ,refs or NRL decisions.
The book of fueds is a classic example 😂
Rugby League is a pantomime. Russell gets that more than most.
