3 weeks SoO break played on Sunday twilights like the NRL GF, with Fridays and Saturdays for each of the 3 weeks having a 9's cup for NRL teams (minus origin players), QLD cup and NSW cup teams (played like the FA Cup).

the media are beating it up. the NRL crowd average has been around 16k for ages, its currently around that level.

TV ratings across FTA are quite solid and on Pay still come out mostly # 1.

the game just banked $50 million and will have $225 million by 2017

the TV grant exceeds the salary cap by $1 million so clubs are more more solvent than ever before.

The biggest thing they need to do is look at the origin scheduling.

The solution is to stop NRL for 3 weeks, play it on 3 consecutive nights. Let everyone focus on origin for 3 weeks with no distraction of nrl.

and they should take 1 origin game every year on the road, rotating it between melbourne (MCG), Perth and Auckland (eden Park)

I see big Mal had a whinge about Heritage round with the game again showing it's biased state and not respecting the heritage of Queensland. Yeah whinge whinge Mal, he has a point.

I mean to be honest, you get sick of watching Sydney and out so-called heart of the game in front of empty stadiums.
Then you get sick of hearing the whistle, commentry is lop-sided and one-eyed.

This is just another every action has a reaction. The guys get up that quick now to play the ball, the tacklers dont have time to get back in front of the tackled player, so the refs call a penalty.
They need to allow bit of leverage , say make it that the tacklers who get up to mark the player only have to cross in front of the tackled player, to be a mark,.

They need to slow down runners from dummy half, remember they said they will just run from dummy half, well that is what is happening.

The game is bloody hopeless, they change the rules without thinking of the consequences.
Now we have 5 dummy runs, or five hits up the guts then kick. If your team is lucky, not give a penalty for getting back one-tenth of a millimetre out of position.
Once your on the wrong side of that penalty count, it all over irene.

Boring, BORING.

If you could teleport any of the current top under 20's teams back to the 90's they would likely win the Winfield Cup. The level of the NSW Cup and U/20's is higher than the NRL was 15 years ago. Look at the u/20 Warriors dream team's from a few years ago. Where are they all now? There is easily enough talent for more teams.

But the fitness has improved and defence is more refined.

nah i wasnt.

dont get what you're saying though, you want them to leave it alone and they did that for numerous years. And the game was crap, did you like the excessive wreslting and penalties from the chooks in 2013? so they did something about it.

would you have rathered them stick with wrestling for another 10 years or something? i mean it wasnt the worst thing in the NRL, but it's nice to have lessened its important this year.
