How To Unravel The Myth Of A First Grade Imposter

Am i the only person who remembers that Scott injured his knee v the Titans?

Not that that matters.

No you're right it doesn't matter, because Brian Smith has dropped Supersub for his poor form not injury worries.

Well not really I always liked him and I think Karmawave and DMC are the same person or come from the same cultural background; Idiot...

Don't worry Yosh, you have DMC and I well and truly covered in the idiocy stakes.

Ever re-read your predictions list? ;-)

Another day, another thread about Dureau by Karma...yawn

Ah yes it is pretty boring and tiring. I must admit.

However, look at it from the other angle. All the Supersub sympathists week after week wrapping Supersub like he is some special footballer.

That. Is. Boring, especially when it's clearly not the case.

What is tiring is Knights fans thinking some of our footballers are first grade standard when obviously a few of them belong in NSW Cup, including a 126kg front rower that has done nothing all year to suggest he automatically deserves his spot back from more deserving footballers who have won 3 on the trot.

It's a disgrace.

Anyway, fond in my mind is the taunts at the beginning of the year that Supersub will " show you Karmawave ".

Well show me what? How to warm the bench? How to re-invent the role of a #7 who is named at halfback but comes off the bench for 27 minutes a game for the last 2 months? Or how to go up and down from NSW Cup to FG with inconsistency issues?

I mean what exactly has he shown us that no one else can do.

Nothing.

We might as well sign Shane Perry if standing and passing and the occasional long kick and poor last tackle options is all it takes to play first grade #7 for the Newcastle Knights.

It sure would be an improvement in defence.

Lets not get carried away now.

Don't write Tim Smith out of the equation for 2009. Wigan want Todd carney and if they get him Tim will be released. I am sure Smithy will be very interested and ready to pounce if that comes to fruition.

Well it was 125 the other day.

I am taking into account the large pizza with extra cheese, 6 Bluetongues and bowl of ice cream into account from last night.

I stick with 126.

Sticking with an Olympic theme, all we can ask for from Danny Wicks is his personal best ... which unfortunately may not be all that much.

He has shown more than your buddy Shane Perry has this year (and in 2007 for that matter) who has "played halfback in a premiership winning team" on his resume. Though I will admit he has dropped off the pace he set early in the season a bit.

71 minutes against the Titans and 80 against Souths thankyouverymuch! You wouldn't happen to recall the scoreline of the Souths game with my buddy Scott running the show would you? YES! Congratulations - the most points we have scored against any team this year! This was without Mullo to help run the show, and against a team on a 5 game winning streak to boot.

I mean what exactly has he shown us that no one else can do.

Of course this is my opinion...but I think nobody who has played in the halves for us since Johns has displayed a better long kicking game or as much vision.

Listen to you Serc " against Souths "...

The Knights also played a blinder first half against the Eels with 7 forwards and one halfback, so he is clearly expendable, and therefore that argument falls flat.

My buddy Shane Perry? I can't STAND Shane Perry. He is useless. And hence my point. I only compare Perry to Dureau because quite frankly their impact on their respective teams is just about at the same level.

I think the reason Dureau will always struggle to cement a first grade spot is he i just too small for first grade. His kicking and passing game is fine, but these days you have to be 6 ft and 100 kg and thats just to play on the wing.

He is Exhibit A of what is called a massive defensive liability.

And his attack isn't good enough to make up for that.

No you're right it doesn't matter, because Brian Smith has dropped Supersub for his poor form not injury worries.
 Poor form hey? So now you have the ability to get inside Smith's brain and know the reasons why he does things. FTR, Scotty himself told me the reason he's not playing is because he's being given the week off. Whether that means, in other words, dropped - or if it means what it sounds like, I guess it depends what your agenda is.

Scott himself told me at training he was busting to play.

I have no idea what goes on in Smiths head, I would pick him.

But he is not tired, he is not injured, so we can only assume in Smiths mind, he is not the right fit for the game.

If we lose this game i think we can call it a tactical blunder by Smith (assuming he is going with 7 forwards).
He has given his stopgap plan for the halves plenty of time to click this year, and quite frankly we have lost several close games because of it.
I can see how he wants our defence right first, and then build on that - but the fact that we can't score without a decent playmaker just kills our chances.

I hope the plan comes together this week, but if it doesn't it's time to give it the flick.

He was dropped.

No mind reading required.

 You really do know what goes on in Smithy's head and the reasons why he doesn't pick players

Dude, are you thick.

I don't have to read Smiths mind

He was dropped, overlooked, dismissed, eliminated, omitted, removed - use your thesauras to come up with whatever analogy that you want!

Whatever way you look at it, a player who was fully fit and as Pika said ' busting his ass ' to play is eligible for selection and was NOT PICKED.

The reasons for his no doubt vary, but it sure as hell doesn't give me any confidence for big games come semi final time if we are to make it.

He'll be back before the end of the season, probably as soon as next week, but it's not because he is soooooo good he must be picked, it will be because Smith likes to keep other teams guessing.

He can't tackle. Might be required against a team like Canberra.

Yes, he was given the weekend off. The reasons for him being given the weekend off only one person knows for sure. I'll give you a hot tip, it's certainly not you.

And using that theory, it means he won't be playing this week not because he's "soooooo" bad, but because Smith likes to keep other teams guessing. Right?
