rafa has been great in europe but average in the league

his transfers - its been a matter of both needing depth and quality. Unfortunately other clubs will generally by 1 20 mil player instead of 4 5 mil players. Apart from Torres and mascherano we havent done that.
Still i think his transfer performance this season was ok. Torres supurb, lucas and babel are only going to get better and better, voronin was a free and a 4th choice and bennayoun well, we had no money left and bought a bit part player.
If we'd gone for quality over depth, we might've come a bit closer but also been in the position where an injury or two and we are f**ked.

Im looking orward to next season, depending on cash available, we need a left back desperately and a right back would be nice also. And wingers. Our centre of defence, of midfield and 1 striker is very good.

Reina, well after an excellent season for most of it since the man utd game he has been average, altho the goals yesterday not many could've stopped drogba's first and both from open player were partly a product of lazy defending out left (looking at you mr riise).

i dont get why everyone praises him for his transfer of Torres...

he got what was expected for a transfer of that size... everyone knew he was a good player...

Sir Alex had been trying to pick him up for a couple of seasons previous but talks always brokedown because Athlectio kept asking for a stupid transfer fee over 40 million...

I don't know why you are defending him regardless. If I was a Liverpool fan I would not be happy with the mediocrity that has been constantly dished up under Benitez. It is not good enough, and neither is his transfer policy, or squad selection.

A bit harsh, we're stronger now than we were at the end of Houlliers reign. Liverpool hasn't won the title for 18 years, which is way too long for the fans, but we simply got behind and haven't been able to catch up with manure and the russians. The signing of Torres is our best in ages but we need a quality winger and some more defensive depth. This season we actually improved in the league points wise and performance wise despite finishing a position lower. We only lost 4 games but we've had 13 draws

Still no trophies at a club like Liverpool = failure.

The problem is manure and the russians are always able to strengthen their squad and we had too many off field distractions which was the cause of our christmas slump. Next season we'll improve further hopefully if we can overcome all the boardroom bickering.
