I just hope a few journalists take the st george viewpoint and mention how unprofessional and selfish young benny is by demanding an instant release and is happy to leave the club in the poo ... Further he is captain gets the big bucks and its been mentioned that he hasnt got an issue with playing group rather our management team .. So he loves the boys BUT Ive just been offered 900k for the next 2 years ( which could be the same we agreed on who knows) so im outta here best of luck with the wooden spoon .. This is where Id love reporters to attack him as it really says a lot about his integrity .. And the NRL should deregister his manager for brokering a new deal , there wont be a paperwork trail but it sounds like a deal has been done , and a hefty fine for the team he signs with and a transfer fee for us
Plus 22 years without any salary cap audits haha!!!

If clubs have been approaching Hunt and his management - that is a a breach of the anti-tampering laws.

It's funny how this never gets a mention in the media. They would otherwise have nothing to report on.
love nrl to deregister his manager and fine the team that brokered the reported 900k deal .. obviously it will be pure speculation as there is no written offer ( how convenient) just a converstion over coffee which is still technically illegal

Yes Hooper is implying that this is all the Dragons fault - “ that they are a mess and Hunt’s release request takes it to the next level “ .

For pity sake , this is but the first salvo fired from the media into stir the pot and make the situation worse . Hooper , honestly if the bloke was a cow’s bog he would have trouble where to plonk himself in a paddock ! 💩

Bloody Hooper the Pooper saying this -

“At this stage, no deals have been done and it’s now up to the Dragons to try and fix this mess that they have created.”

I beg your pardon Pooper, who did you say created the problem? Not the Dragons. They are attempting to fix all of the mess that they created when they signed Hook so at least they are doing things positively. On the other hand, as Hunt admires Hook so much he is the one that has created the current mess by wanting to be released because some other club has spoken to him and wants him to join that club and saying that management has stuffed things up for him.

Hooper the Pooper you are all bullshit and a creator of drama yourself you big baboon!!

The Most Important aspect to all of this is Ryan Webb should not allow him a Release without Compensation, 50 years of 50/50 calls going the Dragons way, no salary cap audits for the next 50 years, no sin bins for the next 55 years and a free pass to Mars for all Red V members, to watch Saints play the 33 franchise, the Mars Hotstones.
NON NEGOTIABLE!

Well the way I see it Mr Hunt has a two and a half year contract with the Dragons.
By all reports there are suitors willing to pay his current salary.
In Europe a top soccer player with a similar scenario, albeit their salary is generally at least 10 times what Mr Hunt’s is, the contract has a transfer value in the multi millions. I know that rugby league is a poor man’s sport compared to Euro soccer but I would say that the transfer value should be north of 500k.
That’s the least that the dragons deserve for their investment.

Has to be equal value of his current contract, we have no marquee player to fill the void ATM or maybe not for the next 2 years!

There is absolutely no way that:

1. Hunt & his management would be requesting a release...

&

2. Also offering to forgo/pay back $150k in wages to trigger an immediate release...

...if they didn't have a deal and next destination on the table.

The saddest thing of all in this situation is not that we are potentially losing our captain and best player of the last couple of seasons (the time has just about come for us to move on and give Shane Flanagan a clean sheet to work from), but the fact that the Board, Ryan Webb and Ben Haran simply don't have the nous to get some sort of long term benefit out of this situation i.e. getting players in positions we really need to come back our way on the other side of a 'deal', in addition to ensuring that Hunt goes to his next destination on the maximum possible salary cap position to put said rival club in a disadvantageous position to this respect (limiting their further recruitment options for the next couple of years).

Instead, Hunt will probably be allowed to leave by mutual consent, and we'll be left with a $1m+ hole in our salary cap with only crumbs available in the open market. Again, thank god we will have an astute operator in Flanagan who, unlike previous coaches, won't go and over pay for crumbs (and potentially be able to turn some 'rocks into diamonds'), but this is going to be a long re-build.

Even if we manage to keep Hunt when it's all said and done - without some hard nosed forwards being recruited, we are going to have to be patient.
