Crawley of all people, has just said that there should be an investigation into tampering if Hunt finds his way to another club. He even said the NRL should de-register Hunt if he doesnt honour his deal. To my shock, Tallis agreed. Not just that, but he said St George did the right thing in making him sit out the 1996 season. BTW, Riccio has joined hoops-the-wit in terms of journalistic integrity.
Crawley said he should not be able to play for another NRL Club until his contract period with us is up. He should go to superleague if he wants to play but not in the NRL.

These player union must ahire to a football standard.
if you (every player) can’t play to a standard every week - your gone.
there are too many teams.
yet the NEL are too greedy and - hello dolphins.
....and they are thinking of having 20 teams in the comp in the future to get even more revenue - but the game will suffer in my opinion.

Bring back 12 teams and home and away games and there will be bigger crowds, better atmosphere, better footy but that won't happen.

While I'm at it, drain the swamp.

I feel for Flanno, he's walked into a sh** fight. It would be a huge effort but there has to be like for like players out there.

The club did a great job to get him and he's going to take the club forward.
If anyone can handle this I believe Flanagan can. Ryles not taking the job was a blessing in disguise. This situation needs a wise experienced resilient individual

Couldn't help myself: I've never believed that Hunt is that good; certainly not a 'superstar'.

33 people have played at halfback in the comp so far this year.

Hunt is 1st for tries (just) and offloads. He is third for try assists and tackle busts (he's clever and physically strong for his size).

In every other stat he's basically around the bottom of the top quartile (ie; good but not great).

He's 3rd, 4th and 5th, respectively, for missed tackles, errors and penalties.

He doesn't kick goals - 21 of the other 32 halfbacks have done - this year.

He doesn't kick field goals - 13 of the other 32 halfbacks have done - this year.

Make of it what you will.

IMO - he is not a 'great' player at all and never has been. He's simply a very good, opportunistic, individual attacking player and quite a poor defender.

Really, no great loss IMO.

Gees, he's done well out of us though.
He does kick 40/20s though.

I think I'd have to give it away if we signed Lodge.

There was arguably grey area in the JDB case and Packer faced justice and served his punishment (although was still reason enough for me to cancel my membership).

Lodge however, terrorised a child - likely leaving him with psychological issues long into adulthood. Then he received the deal of a lifetime to run away back to Australia rather than face real consequences.

The man is scum. If having a BBQ was a sign of a poor culture then even contemplating the signing of this gutless prick is the absolute pits.
I wasnt aware of the Lodge story till I read this. Terrorised a child was enough for me to say NO to Lodge and no I cannot support a team that has a child abuser in it. Thats a hard line for me!

A
I just see it as untenable now after his statements… supporters now all think he is a cock, and not someone who should be a captain of our club. Pull the Band-Aid off and get some money and/or player swap and let’s start the rebuild.
As long as we get a win out of it

let’s get real here how are we supposed to clap and cheer him if he scores a try. Even if Flanno manages to do something with him it will always have a traitor look about it. What will he do next the best thing Flanno can do is make a stand and cut him loose. And for once make it in the Dragons favour.

Douehi will also be out an extended time next year
Makes sense except it is not QLD nor a premiership threat. We will see

He does kick 40/20s though.
That’s another instructive stat: Hunt’s 40/20’s:

2018, 2019, 2020 - not even on the charts
2021 - 3
2022 - 6 (Cleary close behind when averaged over games played)
2023 - not on the chart again

It’s actually another stat in which he’s not really a stand out.

There are several other players in the comp who have been more consistent.

Must read this twitter thread!!! Soo much interesting info about this Hunt situation.
Interesting indeed. If Hunt is actually ‘refusing’ to play then the club has a clear case to sue him for breach of contract.
So, I would tell him we want him to play, then commence civil action agains him for his failure to fulfil his side of the contract. That way, he won’t play for any side (because it would weaken any attempt to challenge the club‘s case) and nor will we have to pay him, pending the decision of the court.

I have known for ages who the problem within us and heard many a gripe from those who believe they know. The master deck chair himself Ban Haran. But I have not got to the bottom of who keeps appointing him in higher and higher honours within and why

I am not sure some of the player revolt in recent times is fact as this twitter states. After the last week yeh I can see his teammates being peeved.
And whilst being honourable Flanno in the media towards Ben and trying to convince him I will see how you do with that but it is a false dawn if you are hoping Dragons fans will put all this to the side if he plays on Friday night.
Over to you all including me who will be on the hill. I wont be booing or throwing barbs IF he plays but I bet surrounding me it will be vocal.
