With 2 years remaining on Hunt's contract, it is quite clear that some other club instigating all this. All our club has to do now is wait and not offer him a release until it becomes clear what they have to offer in lieu of Hunt. If it is bulldogs, we can get 2 guys for Hunt (Kyle and somebody else). Apparently Kyle is on 450k.

I also heard we released Kerr, but he was already signed with the Dolphins

Hunt is under contract until the end of 2025. I imagine the qlders and other clubs are whispering stuff like “you’ve been disrespected” in his ear over the 300 game party and (I suppose) other stuff. What a ducking shambles, just as I decided to renew my grandstand seats again next year. 🤦‍♂️

Chance for the Dragons to demand compensation and show they aren’t the soft cocks the rest of the NRL thinks they are

Agree wait, but don’t let him go to Dogs or Chooks or anyone south of the Tweed River.

Thought… if he doesn’t want to play another game for us (Weidler on 9 this morning) and we wait and let him sit out the year. Will he be picked for Origin 3? That might come into his thinking.

Where theres smoke theres fire - Hunts already left in his mind...I just think though if he goes to GC this year we receive at least some compensation,...Im not certain though that Sullivan is our solution at 7...we need a top line halfback...I read today that Chad Townsend is being shopped around...and dont forget the Kyle Flanagan option which im certain will come into play next season..I actually like Mitchell Pierce instead of Ben Hunt as a halfback general ..field goal specialist and a good tactician...btw can we snap up Connor Watson while he's being offered around as a utility to replace Mbye..
I would press for young Campbell plus a forward.

So Willow you are so sure about this and we are all over reacting ...... Either way I for one don't care if he stays or goes ..... At least come out and say It's all bull or I'm out ......
From my point of view, I am absolutely sure that getting personal about a player's career choices is overreacting.

We all have an emotional investment in the Club and players, but at the end of the day we know very little about the deals that are struck between players, their managers and Club personnel.
Well someone should f**king come out say so and put it to bed , the media should be accountable, I am sick of the shit thats is thrown towards St George, on a regular occurrence, its f**king every day.
It's none my business if you have been offered a job and are looking at your options.
It's up to you what you read in the media. I prefer to take it all with a grain of salt. No one is obliged to tell us anything, especially when negotiations are taking place.
Ben Hunt will make his choices.
The thing is there cant be an offer of $900 per year now. They aren't allowed to table offers now.
IF there is an offer. And IF there is, business goes on all the time. I'm sure St George have benefitted from a few closed door discussions in the past.
I get and agree about your IF and it was my thoughts exactly

However Buzz reported on 2KY about 9.45am this morning he got a direct text reply from Ben? saying he wants out now not even waiting till next year. He had conflicting info as recent as last night
Buzz rang Flanno and told him about the text and Flanno said he would still wait till he finished origin and will speak to him when back home and try and talk him around face to face. He will not release him?

IDK but so much for Flanno focussing on his job at Manly this week
Yeah, all good. But you just said Buzz. I'm sticking my neck out here, but I never read or listen to anything he has to say. Same with Weidler. I may be smarter for it, or not. I know I'm happier. ;)

This sounds really weird how it has come out with the timing of it especially. I also read that Hunt sent Buzz of all people a text to tell him he asked for the release. If that is in fact true then that would be a classic Gus move especially if he contacted Buzz apparently.

As someone mentioned above, I would let the guy move back to Qld as some sort of personal reason to move back home, but to move to the Dogs I would block it big time seeing they are the instigators of this mess.

So anti-tampering rules don't apply to certain teams it looks like. That is clearly what the NRL are confirming with the lack of action. If they did act, it would be a good way to stop journo's and clubs do this type of stuff but they must not care. Look at the focus it has taken from the Origin weekend buildup?

If in fact this comes out as untrue, then I would love Ben to sue Danny or whoever for defamation as they are damaging the guys character. Look at all the bad comments he is getting just from this forum alone, image outside of it? I am so glad Flanno is in charge as a rookie would buckle under these circumstances throwing them into the fire like this.

If this is true and Hunt is perhaps leaving to win a comp, did he honestly believe Saints would win one in 2 years under Hook? Or was he going to wait for Hook to be re-signed and then put in a request? Nobody knows.

Yep. It is running like wildfire in the media that it is official he is asked for immediate release.
Now my opinion he should sit down and talk to Flanno face to face and give him the opportunity to sell the future, then make a decision.
Behind the scenes get good management in to support all

The first point is probably a major driver given he appears to be a really good family man and his family would come first as it should.
I also think that maybe Ryles was going to punt some mgt roles and that suited Hunt which is why he wasn't happy (if that rumor is true) that the deal fell through. Webby has said with an experienced coach they don't need to bring as much support systems, so I read between the lines that Flanagan being appointed meant senior mgt stays in their job. And Maybe Hunt doesn't see that as a good thing.
Can't get past the fact none of them turned up to his 300game dinner. They only have themselves to blame that he wants out.
Not turning up to your captains 300 game dinner says so much…they don’t care for him, they will never play for him, he does not have their respect and admiration,
Time to put the Hunt tenure into history.

Just let him go
We don't need a player in return
It's not like he is Sullivan asking for a release

During this period when Sulli wanted out, Ben our great leader, was saying stuff like, the kid needs to bide his time, like I did when I was a younster playing behind guys like Darren Lockyer he'll come out a better player in a few more years. HAHA what a joke you are mate.
If St George get the wooden spoon, you and Hook were part of it, don't think by jumping ship you had nothing to do with it!

Hopefully Flano can see there is no place for this guy in our club
If he keeps Hunt he will be the third coach to go down because of Hunt

IMO Gus is agitating so we can say No to Hunt and he pounces on Sullivan.
Gus won't sign Hunt.
Not in his plans

There is no comparison between a young rising star and a player who is coming to the twilight of his career and will not put his body on the line to play in the most suited position for his club
Very simple, It's time for club and player to move in a different direction for the long term benefit of both club and player
