I Dont' Like Cricket, Oh No, I Love it, Yeah

Why?
Remember the days when test match pitches always favoured the batsman? Tests were as boring as batshit.
This pitch is ok. Offers something for the bowlers and the batsmen just need to knuckle down and not try and score at a run a minute.
In saying that, the batting makes for a very entertaining spectacle.
Far better than the days when Boycott would score 20 from 200 balls faced!
The wicket itself has a lot of demons in it. Certainly too many for the game to last up to five days. It should have been doctored to suit OZ, unless of course that practice is only allowed in other countries.

when both teams average around 180 or so I think it is safe to say that it's a 200 run pitch which we are just not used to seeing in test cricket

I think a lot of people have criticized the batsmen a bit prematurely without giving credit to the bowlers and the uneven bounce

there was one ball yesterday that Smith faced that bounced over the keeper's head off a good length, that just should not happen and can be dangerous

today will be interesting

He might have been instructed to go out there this morning and score quickly.
Chasing 162 means a quick fire 30 and we are suddenly only chasing just over 100 with 9 batters left. That seems a lot more achievable for those following.
Maybe. He slashed at one in the first innings too. If I was the Captain I would have told him to make sure he was there at the end.

I dont think on this pitch he has the experience to carry his bat. We need that from the more senior players (yes, Marnus I was talking about you). If some of the experienced batters like Smith, Khawaja, Head, just focus on keeping their wicket, we win the game. Who cares if it takes 2 days to get the runs?

The timing of slug’s selection reminds me a bit of Mike Hussey. Hasn’t had and won’t have anywhere near the career Hussey had, but you’ve got a guy that’s done his time at state level and scored a heap of runs the last year (and quite a few wickets). Picked when he’s in form and seemed to slot in quite comfortably this game.
Big contrast to Konstas who’s been picked on potential (and because of a lack of depth in that position). I hope we stick with him but he does need to pull his head in a bit. He’s scored runs hitting good traditional cricket shots and won’t last long if he keeps throwing his wicket away.
He definitely added to the whole spectacle of the series, got the Indians off their game a bit.

I am a fan of the kid did better than McSweeney and Darsh in the 2 games he played. Hope he learns once he has made the field spread to just keep tapping along and taking singles.

I am a bigger than of Webster he was terrific out there fingers crossed he gets to play in the next 2 tests against Sri Lanka.

I think Sam just needs to use his grey matter a bit and not just act on instructions to be so aggressive.
After he got off to a flying start yesterday he then started to knock the ball around for singles at will, so he was doing fine till that f**king stupid shot he played

There was just no need for that shot while the runs were coming quickly enough
