Has anyone been to Canterbury Leagues lately..... awesome club. They have moved with the times and have constantly upgraded. It's a like a Palace over there and it's always packed .

On the other hand Fitzy wasted millions and millions on the Parramatta Power pfffffttttt.

Their is an election coming up, I hope people vote the right way.

I don't get out Parra way much, but do pop into the club on game days for a lemonade or two. I must admit that the only place to have a quiet beer and a chat seems to be Sterlos. With the rest of the club catering for the one-arm bandits. A stark contrast from when there used to be 4 or 5 bars and plenty of entertainment for the masses. Does not seem that they are moving with the times.

Would a Hooters help?

Only joking. Why don't the parra players goto the leagues club after the match instead of the rose and crown?

I agree with Jake and Gronk, even if it's slightly off topic.

Parra Leagues is one of the worst clubs to have a drink at, if not the worst, I've ever been to.

Game day you are crammed in around poker machines. Bloody hard to find anyone; atmosphere zero.

Bigfella, that was obviously all part of their plans to make the pokies the all encompassing income stream.
I agree, it's a sh*thole of a place to go for a quiet beer. I don't even like taking the family there.

a nightclub will definately not increase our revenue...
the cost and competition for it alone is silly...
They would be better off at looking at good live bands, ones who have followings.

However we could lay claim to look at the 'panthers' club which has a mass amount of pokies and entertainment, yet they are still struggling.
They have a nightclub, an oldies bar. Pokies, other forms of entertainment as well.
eg: mini golf and aqua golf.
They own a mass of land as well as leasing it to restaurants such as maccas and kfc...
yet they seem to be in our shoes to am i right?

This is not easy.... this is the hardest time for our club and every club in NSW. Large or small

Therein lies the problem, for me anyway. Trying to get work colleagues to the place for a Friday lunch is impossible, and I don't blame them. We generally end up at the Albion because the Leagues club has little to offer for something as simple as a drink, a meal and decent atmosphere.

Oh yeah completely. I think the Buck does stop with them. If they were real visionaries they would have sold the advertising much more expensivly, much earlier on. Actually if they were visionaries we would have jerseys like the english super league were almost every millimetre would be sponsored, and at top dollar too.

The Writting was on the wall in 2005 when we were the least supported club. Actually it was on the wall when this large taxes hit the clubs, and we should have acted then. But apprently we didn't. So yeah I think the rumour about Fitzy thinking he might have a golden parachute to Workers in wrong. But hey.

No need for visionaries MITS, I'd settle for decent business acumen and and the ability to attract the big end of town to the club. ;-)

The only time you will get the big end of town is when you win a premiership. In my opinion any rate. We can talk about their failure to do that as well, but in the end I don't really care.

Even then, sometimes it is not really the big end of town, it small cashed up companies that want to associate with the Premiership Success, and their monies are normally as fleeting as success.

Interesting thread, Ram, Fish and Suity all make good points. Apart from the purchases of real estate by our club ( or was it financed?) what other revenue streams do we have to combat the labor laws implemented? a Chinese restautarnt in the middle of an area populated by various other asian restaruants?.

Tbh this may sound silly, but why not utilise the night club we have more often to say Wednesday nights. Up here in Terrigal, Wednesday night at Crown Plaza ( Key Largo night club) is huge. Its appeal is to Hospitality workers ( there weekend) and students ( majority work weekends and dont through the week), it's a huge success, and argurably bigger then Friday and Saturday nights up here at Largo.

Just a thought.

Also, do Parramatta have other investments in say shares in various organisations? or has 'Dollar Dazzler Dennis' invested money in a Award Savers Account earning 2% interest, 4% without any withdrawels.

Oh no I hope not. The stock market is going to get worse as so is the world economy. We are only at the beginning of a complete economic collapse, and there is no way Fitz & Co have any idea about how to play the stock market at this point in time.

The US dollar has not completely collapsed yet, which I am expecting it to do so, and a crazy dash to gold is still pending. Gold will go beyond $3000. Unemployment will reach the 20%+ e.t.c. This may sound outrages to a lot of people, but it will happen unfortunately.

So unless Fitz buys into hard currency or businesses backed by real asset based values, then forget about it. But I suspect that he is like most and does not understand that within two years the world will be a different place economically. One that will make the great depression look like a picnic. Sorry for the bad news people but this is my learned opinion.

Yep - outrages (sic). So this is an assessment of yours based on your experience with world markets and foreign currencies Ram ?
