I'm making a bit of a return to poker. Sticking to ring games for a while. I have zero patience for tournaments. Cash games I can just sit out or hit & run.

I must say I was the beneficiary of some luck today on PStars. Twice I was way behind post flop and twice I got lucky. I was the big stack both times so our theory held true.

I had AK against KK on a flop of A/K/rag. Both all in on the flop but I rivered the ace for a better full house. I sheepishly collected a nice $6 pot (not bad for a 1c/2c cash table).

I had A10 against AJ on a A/A/rag flop. Hit my 10 on the turn for another sweet pot.

A small consolation after losing potentially $400 at the club last night when my KJ got beat. I finished 3rd in the tourney & collected $100. 1st place was $500, if that hand held up I would've been about equal chip leader.

K-J held? Its a legless hand to go all in with unless it was for like 5% of ur stack.

Down to 3 players left in a tourney. Blinds are 2k/4k, I'm holding 38k. I've already raised 10k and got a call so its a 22k pot already. The right play is to stick your chips in right there when you hit top pair on the flop.

I suppose, but show me a good way to play pocket jacks. :?

What you don't see in that hand is how Hertha was playing previously - raising every 2nd hand. Thought I'd limp to him and let him blaze away. if an unfavourable flop appeared I can easily back out with not much lost.

should be aggressive with a hand like that...raise pre and then bet hard on the flop

in saying that it does look as though you were expecting him to be the aggressor and he was but if he just checks behind you it's wasted.

either way there was only going to be one result playing against a mupp like that

Thats what the text book says but its still jacks. Play it that way I may have won a small pot with 722 flop.

Raise in the small blind(as I was) and get a couple of callers on say, a KQ7 flop? If you bet hard and get a caller you've lust a chunk of your stack.

I don't do it all the time but I feel limping with JJ can be just as effective.

If you get a favourable flop you have a very good hand which your opponents would have no idea you'd be holding as they woud've expected a raise.
If you get over cards on the flop you have options to back out with a minimum loss.

Either way you can get yourself in trouble, its an awkward hand to play.

I don't mind limping with Jacks either chook, really depends on the table. On a hyper aggressive one where I know I'll get a caller each time I often limp and hope to hit 3 of a kind, that being said you've gotta be prepared to drop them the second someone bets with over cards on the board.

It is an awkward hand to play especially when you're out of position but for me it's an unraised pot, you've got a pocket pair that's probably the best hand...you should be trying to make the most of it and you can't do that if chips don't go into the pot. If someone else puts the chips in for you great but I find that doesn't happen often enough so I usually like to raise it up myself and try extract value from it.

if the flop had one over I'd probably try represent it...KQ7 I'd probably be forced to give it up because i'm out of position...if they don't bet out have a shot on the turn.

I suppose much depends on your style, your table image and the dynamics of the table. Exceptions to every rule.

You really have to wonder what goes through some people's minds.

Call 1/3 of his chips off with 7/9 suited?

Then push all-in to a dry pot with top pair and a crap kicker and no straight or flush draw?

What the hell did he think you called with.

That's the sort of shit that irks the f**k out of me. It happens way too often.

Looking at the stacks, it was close to or just in the dough. That's "magic time" when you can expect to get drilled by a larger stack holding rubbish.

I'm so f**king sick to death of being beaten by draws.

Some dopey twinkie today re-raised a post flop all-in for all his chips with a gutshot and stars promptly paid him off.

Twice today I've flopped a set only to be rivered by flush draws.

And I've only played 3 f**king tournaments.

Why the f**k do people automatically put their chips in with a f**king flush draw, nothing irritates me like that does. Do they think they're better than a one in 4 chance of winning the hand if they're behind when the chips go in, which they almost always are?

Dense merkins.
