Best attack, most points scored by a finals team in week 1 2013.

I want to say equal best defense as we wouldn't have conceded a try if they didn't blatantly murder McManus in the opening minutes.

I'd like to see a stat on how often Jimmy Mac cops high shots. Blokes just seem to want to kill him. Is he a noted sledger or something? I just can't picture it in my head.

Thank you, sir... and may your club steady its path verily and prosper in the near future also.

Here's a fun stat: This was the first time in the history of the club that we managed to beat a team three times in a season.

I got curious about what effect scoring the first try has on our results this year and this is what I found:

We scored the first try in 14/25 games (56%)

Of those, we won 7, drew 1 and lost 6, so only 50% wins. I imagine this is probably worse than a lot of the other top teams, but without doing a crapload more research I don't know.

In the 11 games in which we conceded the first try, we won 6 and lost 5 (ie. better! at 54%). On the flipside, I imagine this is probably a bit better than most teams, but again, that's just a guess.

So basically, if Melbourne scores the first try on Saturday don't get too discouraged and start giving up on the game like I am prone to do . Because the first try doesn't appear to affect our results too much.

I was thinking about those stats the other day too, remembering we had conceded the first try on several occasions but still won. I don't think we can afford to do that against Storm.

what is the best stats website ? I've had a look and the ones I have found arent as good as what I would hope for. For example I remember reading a stat on the Raiders win stats depending on the temperature in Canberra. If its below 12c they win an enormous amount of their games at home. Just a small nothing stat but never the less interesting. Is there a site that has all these juicy little stats ?

Another stat Sterlo highlighted in his article on the DT was that Rochow has played the full 80 for the past six games. Brilliant effort for a brilliant young player who's going to be a superstar.

In the 2013 NRL finals we've beaten the two teams that competed in the 2012 NRL grand final.

We are the only team to have won 2 finals this year.

We are on the current longest win streak and riding the biggest momentum of all remaining sides...

Roosters - WWLL
Souths - WLWW
Manly - WLLW
Knights - WWWW

Since the new finals system came into play we are the first side to win in week 1 and 2 of the finals.

We are also the only side to win an away final under this finals system. And we did it twice.

We beat 6th placed Bulldogs.
We beat 3rd placed Storm.
We will beat 1st placed Roosters
We will beat 2nd placed Rabbitohs.

Sorry there is no stat or pattern there

The win over Melbourne was our first victory over a top 4 team this year.

The last time the Roosters had a week off they got beaten by Melbourne pretty soundly at Allianz. The started very slowly and were down 12-0 after just 14 minutes. Melbourne then controlled the game and grinded out a win fairly comfortably.

We can out intense them in the first 20, skip to a halftime lead then grind them away IMO.

And what caused the roosters defence troubles that day was medium sized bombs and cross field kicks - the kind Mullen specializes in.

I was at that game and the Roosters were simply horrible that night. Pearce and Maloney finished every set with the same shit house kick and they never forced repeat sets. It was almost comical. Their coach has addressed this problem and they have both improved out of sight in this area post origin.
