Wouldn't he have noticed it when he picked it up.

Look i think they should have withdrawn the appeal. But it's a warning to the batsman who fart arse around getting out there stuffing around.

I suppose at end of the day fielding sides are being punished for slow over rates. And the batsman are just as guilty slowing the game down changing gloves every 2nd over.

Not necessarily? I'm not actually watching, just following on Cricinfo but it seemed like they were saying it was a strap? Plenty of scope not to notice that in the rush to get out and face up inside 3 mins.

And he can't face up without it to save the timer either

Bangers have to get through 50 overs within a time limit.....f**k Sri Lanka I say. The game has to move along. Sri Lanka can claim to be the "moral" victors.

I remember Ishant Sharma brought out 2 right hand gloves in that famous controversy SCG test Michael Clarke got 3 wickets to win in the last over and delayed the game for 5 mins.

The poor 12th man copped a pasting from the members running out the Gloves thinking India were wasting time

I think the same thing happened in Cardiff where Jimmy Anderson kept wasting time to hold on for a draw. A frustrating result in the end, Ponting kept using the spinners

Nah that was the Physio coming out in the last few overs.

I remember staying up to 4am that night as it was in the school holidays to watch f**king Jimmy Anderson and Monty Panesar save a test with the bat like fmd you couldn't get 2 more useless batsman.

You cant be timed out after already being out there in your innings.

It's only at the start of your innings.

From memory Sharma was like 19 at the time and on debut. I reckon a savvy veteran handed him 2 right handed gloves on his way out to the middle so the kid would have no choice but to waste time. Didn’t help them fortunately.

So Angelo becomes the 162nd plsyer out for a diamond duck in odis.

Pretty huge number until you factor in the end overs when players are trying to score as many runs as possible.

In contrast 23 in tests.

I'd be pretty disappointed if it happened like this to a NZ player - by the same token if it happened to Bairstow against Aust, or Warner against England I'd be doing whatever I could to suppress my mirth...

Batter should be ready, not much to ask... but an untidy way to get out (and to appeal)

I have no issue with the timed out thing, or even appealing for it (although I do think think it's cynical as f**k) except that the faulty piece of equipment was a helmet.

Like...in a world where concussion is such a hot issue, and where the rules of cricket now require helmets to be worn at almost all levels...that's probably one for the umpires to use some discretion?

Maybe Angelo is too nice and honest? He probably should have faced up, backed away as the bowler hit his delivery stride. Even if he got bowled, the umpires never give that out despite the rules requiring a batsman to be ready when the bowler hits the top of their mark. Then he's faced up, so he can't be timed out...

I think one of the other issues according to the commentators was he didn't ask the umpire or Bangladesh he had an issue with his helmet.

He just summoned the 12th man to come out and swap it.

Without even asking that probably pissed them off even more.
