Don't want to bag the kid then call him a plodder lol some one is a bit silly aren't they.

What have you based your assessment off exactly one game in first grade and you wonder why young talented players leave the club with fans like yourself.

Hunt in the halves is even funnier he is an outside back yet you would do a Price and try and manufacture one.

Well done Rob Dragon you've made the I am a dill category.

JDB, Rein & Marketo did well against the Warriors! They filled in for Marshall brilliantly. I wish people would get over their man love for JDB, he is a forward. Marketo's defence would be great at 5/8 but I'm not sure about his speed or ability to take over such a role. Rein cannot play there, we need a specialist 9 and Garvey is yet to prove he is better than Rein. Hutchinson? We tend to use the word 'gun' a little too often on this site. Bird was/is a gun but he is dead and gone (move on with that one guys). Apart from Bird how many of our guns have turned into rifles? Most have gone to other clubs and disappeared or become fill ins. Hutchinson might really be a player of first grade quality, but boy it's a gamble. He seemed totally overawed in his one first grade game, went missing and seemed predictable and slow. The few, and I admit few, clips I have seen of him created part of this assessment Whoever is 5/8 the Broncos will put huge pressure on and will direct their big forwards towards in attack. If it is Hutchinson as 5/8 I hope he proves me wrong, smears egg all over my face, shoots me twice to prove he is a gun...well you get picture. Good luck son.

I do not want to bag a young player; but Hutchison is not up to 1st grade standard and never will be. He passes the ball 10 meters behind the advancing defensive line. He never engages the defensive line and this makes it easy to defend against. He simply aimlessly shovels the ball to his immediate outside back. His style of play reminds me of Quade Copper; who also plays way behind the line. The best playmakers engage the line and make defenders think about what is coming. Poor old Drew Hutchison is a plodder. I would not even resign the kid. Friday nights replacement should be Justin Hunt.

:shock::shock::shock:

Have to agree .Watched him play in the 20's last weekend and he was close to the worst player on the field . Not up to first grade yet if ever.

Wow he sounds absolutely shithouse! No wonder he never made the Australian Schoolboys or NSW U20's Origin side... Oh wait....

But yeah, let's chuck a guy who can barely hold down a wing position into the halves! What a brilliant idea! :crazy:

I would put Farrell at 5/8 played there for souths a couple of times. Would do the job in defence

Marketo for mine his defence out wide where benji defends will be strong

I can remember when he played lock in NYC and his ball skills weren't too shabby. At the end of 2012 when he left us, many here had him as their #1 pick to be secured from the many off contract players at the time.

Worth a look IMO. The guy is all heart. I wouldn't be disappointed if Hunt was given a shot however. He is irrepressible as is Jake.

This is the one time where an up and coming saints junior will have a go in the halves. I'm not sure why everyone reckons Drew Hutch can't play. He got man of the match on the NSW under 20s, said to have destroyed QLD in the game and I thought towads the end of the Cronulla game, in which no one really stood up bar Cooper, he looked good. A big rangy five eighth looked like a young Wally ( size wise). Could be a ball playing lock if anything. I hope he goes great. I like the look of him and as a 19 year old, get him in there. I have no doubt he prove the doubters wrong ( hopefully sooner rather than later) that a young kid can match it in the halves of the NRL.

I think it is way too big of an ask to have Hunt go from defending at fullback and on the wing to defending 3 in, especially in a must win game against the top side. He will be forced to make more tackles in the opening 20mins than he would have this whole season.

I think the best way to go without causing too much disruption to the team is to let Widdop steer the ship and put a running 5/8 beside him who won't be over-awed by the defensive requirements. My vote goes to Marketo or Farrell as they can handle the defensive load without causing any further disruption.
