Smith seems like a nice enough bloke, however I cannot help but thinking that his coaching in genereal has past its used by date as has our style of 2001.

I neither love nor loathe Smith.

As a person, I have spoken to him on numerous occassions and he is a GREAT bloke - really nice and down to Earth.

As a coach, I know he can do great things, but he also does some things which leave me very confused.

But I believe we can win the Big One under him.

On another note, why is it everyone is so keen to say he knows what he's doing RE: Witt?

Don't get me wrong - perfecting his game in Premmies is the best option by far.

But why does he replace Witt with Wagon, who is playing LOCK?

I pose this question because I have seen Wagon play lock and 5/8 (last year, 2001). I have noticed when he plays 5/8 he kicks once in a while, runs for gaps and passed more often.

And yet clearly he has been instructed to play his 'natural' lock's game - tackle, run straight and hard and be a sponge.

WHY? I haven't heard him address it.

I mean, why (at some stage, when Witt is ready to go) remove a non-ball-playing lock playing 5/8 to replace him with a proper 5/8 at some stage of the competition?

Wouldn't it have been simpler and made more sense to put Wagon at lock and put Hopkins or Muspratt (locks which have attacking flair and skills) at 5/8?

Seems to me so, at least.

When Smith admitted fault last night, he rose in stature to CLOSE to where we was a few years ago. The man did more for unification of the supporter base in one lousy interview that you and others have done with 2 years of argument and verbal battery. Hell, I even copped a death threat over it, remember?

Face it, Mark, Smith blew the injury argument away. Injuries were not the reason nor the excuse. It was the argument to justify piss poor results. And as Brian Smith proved last night, the argument was WRONG!

Misty, I'm not sure that Smith himself has ever used the injury excuse himself (though am happy to be proved wrong if you can cite an occasion when he has).

I heard him talk about injuries last year, and his response was often along the lines of 'that is just something we as a club have to be good enough to rise above'

In terms of acknowledging that we were using a redundant style of play, well, thats what he said at the coaches forum last season, if you were there you would have heard. Again, nothing new.

Fish, that's my point. Smith never used the excuse, but others, like HJ and his cronies.

HJ, you are really grabbing at straws. Just after a cheap win? Mate, I'll take ANY win for Parra, unlike you. BTW, I was on after the Souths win, absence explained after the Manly win. I'm not like you, who only turns up to bag people of celebrate yet another loss.

We all noticed you were absent during the last Mardi Gras, too. Doesn't mean you are rapt over a cheap loss

Face it Klinger, Smithy showed you up the other night big time, and I am enjoying every minute of seeing you squirm in your frock!

aahh, to see the Smith lovers squirm, tying themselves in knots trying to turn the man's frank statements about where he went wrong into why they are right. One again, the only defence is play the man, not the ball. I guess that's what you do when your arguments have no substance!

And HJ, your 2001 remark is a bigger laugh than the socks you stuff down your bra! Here's a challenge - if Parra win the 2004 minor premiership, score over 600 points, win at least one semi final by over 50 points and make the GF as favorites, I'll wear your best frock to the GF!

 - another Misty post laced with personal attacks ("cronies", "madi gras", "Klinger"), yet you still do the "play the man, not the ball" line

And in all honesty, I just don't for one fleeting second understand why you believe Smithy has said anything to make those of us who support him squirm.....he is saying things we have all said for ever - infact we probably got it from him....if you have a tape of the interview watch it again - Smithy won't use injuries as an excuse, but watch him count off the "2 broken arms, 2 fractured eye sockets" etc etc and honestly tell me you think he believes injuries have had no affect on our performances.

Misty,

Again you and I see differently on this issue, as Suity and others have been saying recently people should respect others opinions, While I respect your opinion I believe it is incorrect concerning the facts and am just trying to bring these facts to your attention.

You are not going to get me to apologise for getting it right.

The Coach will never say that injuries are an excuse, if he did, he would have been beaten from pillar to post, but you can see he said it was the reason and even Warren Smith pointed it out in the statistics. When a fair chunk of your Salary cap is on the Bench (12 or so players vs. Canberra Last year) you are going to struggle.

As Fish and I have said, Smith's so called admission of fault happened last year and he had a plan to get us back into top 4 contentions. I have been rallying around that plan supporting that plan, I think the plan fell over 2 weeks ago and that silly on field decisions and fatigue got us beaten against the Sharks.

My Polite letter was not a shot at you it was a Statement of fact, if you want action, go write a polite but firm letter to the coach, Ask El Duque I think he has done that or we have spoken about how Brian Smith either responded in writing or by giving the complainant a phone call. Either that or become a voting member of the club, all these times I have told you if you want Smith Gone, you need Fitzy gone, you want Fitzy gone you have to try to get rid of the current board.

It is the process, or you could just write a letter asking your questions.

All in all over the last 18 months I too have not been wrapt with our form, I have been saying that things need to change, but the changes I want to see are subtle and the changes you want to see are drastic.

It is a matter of degrees.

Look I know that you support your club passionately, and I believe if you ask people like Jesseel, Suitman, Nikki, and others they will tell you I am a also a passionate fan of this club.

I am happy you enjoyed the Interview with Coach Smith, I am sorry you can't hear him speak, as often as I or others can.
