Great Dane,

That's bad but not the worst!

People trying to start up RL in South Africa were being murdered! This was happening pre Mandela era.

I suspect the Japan example is being replicated in some form throughout the world where RL is trying to start and RU has its private school educated 'friends' in high places and on the ground!(Which is basically everywhere)

Holy Jesus nipples, I know the IRU probably had nothing to do with the murders and that it is possible that the people trying to set up RL in South Africa were murdered for reasons other than RL, but lets say there was a RU bigwig putting hits out on these people, well that's just f###ing low and disgusting that someone would pay a for a person to be killed over sport.

I am sure the Japan example is happening all over the world because my friends said at the time that a similar thing happened to a friend of there's (that they met through football) in Argentina.

- Give the current 16 NRL teams 3 years notice that at the end of the 2015 season, promotion/relegation will be introduced and the bottom 4 sides will be going down to division 2 making division 1 a 12-team comp.
- Give wests tigers and st George illawarra the opportunity to schism as joint-ventures in which case in 2015 there will be 5/6 teams getting relegated.
- In 2016, introduce a second division with the 4/5/6 relegated nrl teams plus Newtown, cc bears, perth, Brisbane II, central qld and Ipswich; winner and runner-up of division 2 get promoted, bottom two teams of division 1 get relegated at the end of each season.
- salary cap cheats by more than 10% of the cap are relegated to division 2 for 3 years; 2-10% - fines/docked competition points on a sliding scale.
- Full home and away season for both divisions
; 22 rounds for division 1 plus a mid-season bye.
- Fixed schedule.
- division 1: 1 x Friday night blockbuster (televised on fta) 1 x Saturday night blockbuster (televised on fta), 4 x Sunday arvo games (1 on fta, the other 3 viewers choice on fox)
- division 2: 1 x Friday night game (televised on fta after div 1), 1 x Saturday arvo game (televised fta), 1 x Saturday night game (televised fox) 2-3 x Sunday arvo games (1 on fta before the div 1 game, the rest viewers choice on fox)
- put $$$ up and lobby the hell out of the state & federal governments to get Parramatta stadium upgraded to a 50 000 seater, retractable-roof stadium and depending on which teams are in div 1, a "match of the round" always played at either sfs or parra each round.

Reopen all of the SL wounds that took the best part of a decade to close? No way.

Yes way,we must repay the ones who saved us from the brink of absolute oblivion

Norths back as Manly's juniors? Yeah, yeah. But no. I mean, notwithstanding the fact the Norths have just a great love of Manly.

Norffs dont exist right now and if based on the Central Coast would have an excellent catchment area,Why should they get the area they've more or less abandon

Get rid of two of our great expansion assets? Get rid of the team that gets us Victorian Government money and a league stadium in Melbourne. Far sighted move that.

How is Canterbury a part of expansion? I said in my statement that the Warriors would be forgiven for their tresspasses as they admitted fault

Better off erasing a deadwood park team like Manly, wouldn't you say?

Deadwood? Bitch please we have figured in more finals series since 2004 than ANY OTHER CLUB!!! Even Brisbane and Cheatbourne have missed a finals series once

And then get rid of them in a decade and a half like you want to do with NZ and Melbourne? Odd expansion theory.

No,i'd abolish the Storm and replace them with another suitable franchise,or re-brand them and hope everyone forgets in about 5 years,NZ i would not abolish as they admitted fault,They would get a centre of excellence but i'd fear that would end up feeding the ALL BLACKS for years to come, bit of a double-edged sword building a centre of excellence there

"Since 2004" seems like a very arbitrary benchmark. We could easily say "since 2002" and Brisbane would have missed 1 and Manly 2.

Magpie man.

The minute you start talking divisions 1 and 2 you destroy the division 2 clubs in Australia! Imagine being a fan of a division 2 club . All that would have to be said by another fan would be "You are only a 2nd division club-you have no relevance!" Australia has a tyrrany of distance that does not lend itself to divisions. Think about it! If lets say the Cowboys became a 2nd division club due to a bad season that would destroy their status and worth in one foul swoop! Result: no RL primetime club/presence in a major area of Australia. Disaster!

Conferences of even footing are a better approach!

The historical significance of the Sydney based clubs should not be ignored. These clubs are the core of the NRL. They are its history and its relevance to people all over Australia. In fact getting back the North Sydney Bears in the form of the Central Coast team is a worthwhile move. Ofcourse necessary additional teams in Brisbane, WA and perhaps NZ South Island are all sensible moves as well.

The most pressing issue as I see it right now is the fans getting back their weekends! This extending of games being played from Thursday to Monday night will impact negatively on fans! Simple but important things like the effect on tipping comps to casual fans, punting habits, working day commitments being compromised for the attending fans. This is damaging the goodwill the NRL has had with fans! Not to mention giving other rival/lesser football codes getting a free kick on our weekends! Saturday game timeslots are underutilised!

Un-merge St George and Illawarra. Have the Steelers playing back in Wollongong. Merge St George with Cronulla and call the club the Cronulla Sharks, have them wear blue, black and white and play all of the games at Toyota Park.

Since 2004 (8 Years) is exactly how long the finals streak has been

It is the longest streak of a team making the finals that is still going

1. Make ALL player managers and club officials sign statutory declarations to their knowledge of player deals. This would include knowledge of gifting houses/forward payments and spousal job appointments.

2. Invest heavily in "touch footy" for both boys and girls right through to adulthood to promote healthy living and counter the AFL Auskick program.

3. Start building the infrastructure for a NRL controlled broadcasting facility (AFL are doing this now) that will allow a more open access to the game. Traditional TV and Cable are dying and by the next round of offers Telstra and Optus will be the BIG bidders.

4. Get rid of Sherrin as our ball manufacturer and open up bidding to organisations that have R&D the balls are 30-40 years behind soccer technology.

5. Do something to expand the game's international profile, I always get shouted down on this, but as an example, if we adopted the NFL type ball (not theirs as it if old technology), there is a BILLION dollar market that would really take a hard look at our game as well as add a new dimension to an old sport. As it is, the average punter outside of NSW and QLD can tell the difference between UNION and LEAGUE.

6. Educate players more about the fact that they are under the surveillance 24 x 7 who want to make them look like d**heads. Hire some smarter spin doctors and make public speaking MANDATORY for any professional player - how many times have you heard a league player speak on TV and hide in embarrassment.

7. If you are going to expand (which I don't favour, I prefer relocation) then do so in markets that are receptive to building the game, Wellington, Fiji, etc.

8. Keep the pigs (administrators/consultants) remuneration public - as I think members need to be informed of the cost of some of these losers.

9 Membership - make membership worth an investment and push hard for annual members (congrats to the Broncos and Souths for leading the way).

10. Hire the best CEO you can who knows marketing AND administration. The AFL are killing us, they have 3 top guys that could easily run the NRL.

11. Devise an alternative to scrums that will allow small breaks in the game to expand advertising dollars (20-30 seconds max), this is why the AFL attracts a high advertising base.

12. In the NFL referees must stand and face the camera and specify the ruling for any penalties or infringements. This would help us who are trying to educate non League followers and what is happening, most of us including commentators are just left guessing on why a penalty is called.

The suggestion of NFL strategies but it IS the best marketed game in the world and if we want to learn, learn from the best.
