mongoose said:warriors overacheived last year imo. They have average halves and hooker. Price and Wiki are another year older. I will be very surprised if they make the top 4 again.

of those you listed, IMO ony Roosters, Warriors, Melb & Manly are on a similar level.
Dogs, Eels and Warriors have one decent forward each (Mateo will play 5/8 I hear...) while NQ are boarderline, their success will depend on LOD.
I think we are going to shake up some more fancied packs this year.
So Warriors pack is of similar quality, but only has one decent forward? I guess that's about how i would rate the Knights pack. So yeah.macavity said:of those you listed, IMO ony Roosters, Warriors, Melb & Manly are on a similar level.

that is our starting pack, there is 3 international forwards (current not past) who would all be in the 10 forwards in the game. Then there is Riddell Robenson and Mateo, all very good players in their own right. Plus guys young guys like Paulo, Cordoba, Hauraki comming through, plus the experiance of Wagon and Guavou. How is that just one good player... not a fair call imo.
Warriors again have a good forward pack, and Dogs is now just SBW.
I would say the Knights pack in superior to Rosters and Dogs, on par with Souths and Manly (both packs are over-rated very hard) but the others mentioned IMO are better than the Knights pack.
Cayless is a much better player than Sargeant.macavity said:I rate MoiMoi and Mateo, sure.
Hindy is looking old (but granted is still class), the rest I don't rate. I have never understood why Parra fans rate Cayless so highly. He is about the same level as Sargent IMO....
You guys (like us, admittedly) wank off about your young guys every year - and few actually come good.
I rate the Rooters. Manly too. Souths will be better with a fit Kidwell.
Perhaps im a bit over-optimistic about the Knights this year, guess I'm just excited that we will actually have someone other than total cream-puffs up front.

good pick up.
Cross, Buderus, Simpson & Paterson
and we have one good forward?
good one.
you are just as biased as me if you discount that lot and rate the likes of Tim Grant (as promising as he may be), Adam Woolnough, Shane Rodney, Brendan Worth, Tony Puletua and Luke Priddis higher.

What about Petero Civinoceva, Frank Puletua, Frank Pritchard, Trent Waterhouse who would all walk into your forward pack? Did you forget them?macavity said:

Pity our juniors end up at other clubsmacavity said:I would rate Penrith, the Broncos and probably the Knights as having a better long-term record with juniors.
granted you guys get a lot of young guys through (surprisingly few locals) but not much more than an average rate actually progress.
I expect that production line to slow now Hages is in charge too - ours certainly did, and is only just starting to ramp up again.

Nice of you to pick Brendan Worth and Shane Rodney who aren't likely to be anywhere near first grade next season. The others however are good players, Adam Woolnough was the captain of the Knights at one point this year, and Big T and Priddis both picked their game up after some time in PL. Put them with a leader like Petero Civinoceva and some young blokes looking at cracking first grade, and they should pull their fingers out.
Even if our pack fails to perform at its potential, it should still comfortably have it over that Knights pack.
