That's insane mate. My question is, what do they do with all that money? I mean if someone gave me $1M or even $1.5M, I could easily pay off the house, upgrade it to something nicer and retire early. And still have plenty left over to live on.

Why do these guys need so much money?
They would pay 37% tax annually on such earnings.

Yes it seems a lot but sport is big business in the US

Most sporting teams - MLB/NFL/NBA/NHL would be privately owned and the revenue from broadcast deals/crowds/merchandise/advertising etc would be 10s of billions annually for all those major sports.

Each of the teams in the various sports would get their cut of all the above.

MLB Teams for instance each receive 60 million US from the national broadcast deals and upto 40 mill US from local US broadcast deals - 100 mill US before even playing a game or selling a ticket or any merchandise.

MLB Highest wage bill is the LA Dodgers @ 265 mill US and the lowest Baltimore Orioles @ 43 mill US

Supply and Demand - Athletes Supply the talent and People demand to see or hear it ( TV/Pay TV/Radio)or live by attending the games and also by buying the merchandise etc etc.

NY Yankees would most likely sell the most merchandise world wide of any team in any sport

It kinda annoys me when people say that NRL players get paid too much. Compared to a lot of other sports, they’re getting paid peanuts and putting their bodies and brains through so much more to get it
It's to do with the revenue the sport generates though via Broadcast rights/merchandise/crowds/advertising etc etc

Also a lot of teams in various major sports overseas are privately owned

EPL teams for instance receive around 80 million pounds each from the Broadcast deals each season plus other payments - see the link below

MLB teams up to 100 mill US each from the Broadcast deals each season

NFL teams up to 250 mill US each from the Broadcast deals each season

I think each NRL team receives 10 mill or so each from the Broadcast deal each season

Wow! That's almost as much as the Rooster salary cap

It's an A+ for me as he did it with an inherited team that he had to improve. He did that with nearly all of them. There were SOO debuts, International debuts. Semi finals. Excitement and hope. Further he took what he had and developed a style that worked on the strengths of what he had and who he could get.

Could have still been playing Morrisball.

Fitz is apparently a defensive coach, and when it counted close to 70 points in two games
The 70 points is the reality check that will drive him and the squad. Fitz built a team and a structure that was much improved on recent middle of the road Sharks teams.

This season is the first step. They showed they can win against the many poor to average sides in the comp. They also showed that at this point they don't have the extra gear needed for finals.

For the coach, he had an excellent first season. The disappointment of the finals performances shouldn't override the progress made. From 9th 5th is a good step. There are missing ingredients from being a contender and it will be his job to find and produce them in the next couple of seasons.

Stake you should pay more attention to Latrell Mitchell straight after last nights match.

His post match interview and chat with Nicho it was obvious he was complimentary of the sharks season and I’m pretty sure he is a better judge than all of us. Even including you.

They were shit, leaked points like crazy, but the coach wants them to be better so it's ok.

If we've improved out of sight I'm yet to see it.

Turns out we likely were the beneficiaries of a soft draw.

Oh well, better luck next year.

It's now like no one can have a shot at Fitz.

Remember when we got smashed by manly that semi Galls last game the coach was hammered in here
Flame away but the shots coming from disappointment at poor performances ignoring bigger picture aren't much use.

The squad isn't good enough to compete for a title. His job is to get them to that point.

Definitely up in the A's marking going by his first year. We will be up there again next year with a better understanding of what is required, we still have the same problems as other teams when it comes to injuries and (these days) suspensions, we have a young squad with a wide premiership window. Next years draw wont be so easy I assume, which is what you need if you want to compete at the end.

I'm giving it A+ for 68 points conceded in two games.

Really made of the right stuff now.
Where have you been all year? Only surfaced at the time the wheels fall off the bus and not to lend a hand but to criticize the mechanic. Everyone including yourself knew we weren't winning the comp and to get 2 bites at the cherry is pretty good for a ROOKIE 1ST YEAR Coach.

Back into your hole you go.
