I knew my opinion wouldn't be popular as they're always a 'politically correct free zone' so by all means call me a moron. But feel free to also argue the merits of my post.
What parts do you not agree with?
That talk of Andrew Johns not being allowed to have any involvement within Rugby League anymore is abit harsh for making a racist comment? Heck, Paul Gallen and Bryan Fletcher did the same and were still allowed to play the game! No-one asked for them to be barred from Rugby League. Neither were they the victims of two-week long witch-hunts. On the contrary as i recall it Bryan Fletcher was suspended for a week, required to do abit of work in the community and made a personal apology to Dean Widders which was accepted and both men moved on. The perfect solution.
Perhaps it was my assertion that most white people have called someone a "black merkin" at some point in their life? Id be willing to bet everything i own that most people - black, white, asian, hispanic - have made a racist jibe at some point in their life...
Maybe it was when i said that white people are dealt with more harshly, or at least more rigorously monitored than other races when it comes to racism? Again i think thats pretty stock standard. Living up here in Tville its not uncommon to read stories of Indigenous youths/gangs attacking or gang bashing a white bloke; and yet ive never ever heard the term "racist attack" attached to it. Quite frankly i suspect it's because the media are afraid to even mention the idea. Conversely... But that's just one example, and no doubt a controversial one which will lead to me being called a narrow-minded racist.
But more than likely it was when i stated that both Tahu and Inglis need to drink a glass of harden the f**k up. By all means they both had the right to feel insulted and offended by the comment. They also had the right to receive a sincere personal apology from Johns and an assurance from he and the NSWRL that such behaviour would not be tolerated in the future.
But as soon as they both began to act like Holocaust survivors - that is when Tahu abandonded his teammates without any attempt at resolution, needed time off training to deal with the 'trauma' and acted like a petulent turd against the Knights with his intentional high shot which can no doubt be attributed to that aforementioned trauma; and when Inglis started talking about perhaps leaving the game and being completely oblivious to the irony of his comment that Joey should be thrown out of the game despite being anything but a clean skin himself - well IMO that's when they both went way too far and took a case of minor racism (on a scale of 1-5 i'd give it a 1) and turned it into something far greater than it really needed to be.
So again, just to reiterate my initial point - both Timana and GI need to drink a glass of harden the f**k up. Oh and Joey, in future pal, if you're going to make a non-vicious racist remark at least have the nouse to make sure that there aren't any 'blacks' around at the time! (can i say that or is it 'coloureds' these days?) That way you can at least use the "if a tree falls in the woods and no-one is around to hear it..." excuse.
