Interest in a new FF league for 2010 - with IDPs

Awesome guys, welcome aboard to all , particularly the newcomers that we haven't seen around here before. I run a couple of other fantasy comps on this forum and they are good fun, plenty of healthy banter between owners, but most of all we strive to have active owners to make them fun leagues.

Okay now that we have our owners, I will endeavor to lay out the preliminary rules and roster requirements for general discussion, I like the owners to have a big say in how the league will be run. We will aim to have the inaugural offseason draft in early July.

This will be known as the IDP Masters league, a 12 team league.

1) How many playoff teams, 4 or 6?

2) 2 divisions with 6 teams in each or 3 divisions with 4 teams in each?

3) Keeper or redraft? If Keeper how many keepers between seasons?

4) Points Per Reception (PPR)?

5) Trade deadline, week 6 (same as NFL) or different date?

6) Transaction deadline, yes or no?

7) Divisions randomly generated?

Top 2 in each division making the playoffs isn't ideal, being 3rd in the best division and 2nd in the worst means undeserving teams may make the playoffs.

You don't want people trading in the playoffs. As teams out of the race will trade multiple players for a star who they will keep and that will compromise the playoffs.

6 Playoff teams doesnt mean top 2 in each division,

What Ab suggested was that the 6 top team make the playoffs, and seeds #1 and #2 get a first round bye.

I like the idea of top 2 from each division as it makes the divisional games more meaningful and builds rivalries, having said that it doesn't really bother me either way, what does everyone else think?

I don't really see the issue here, particularly in a keeper league where owners won't want to compromise their rosters for next season. Why would an owner in the playoffs trade one of their stars? Regardless I'm happy to implement an end of season trade deadline if people wish, no problem with that...
