Interest in a new FF league for 2010 - with IDPs

Exactly, i always like the leagues to be life like as possible. Only 12 teams out of 32 teams make the playoffs, i don't feel half the league making the playoffs is a great thing to have.

3 division winners and 1 wildcard is what i always go with in my 12 team leagues. This means the playoffs are only 2 weeks long and runs in week 15 and 16 and the season can be 14 weeks long.

Then put that down as your vote, everyone gets treated equally here.

Is it going to be an auction or snake draft? I would prefer auction.

Snake, as far as i know the webste we use (fleaflicker) doesnt allow for auction drafts. We do the snake draft on here over a period of a couple of months.

I would post the link to one of my IDP leagues so people can check it out as a guide. But this site won't let me post links until i get 20 posts, for some idiotic reason.

Months?

Why don't we just do it through ESPN and it only takes a couple of hours?

We could do a live draft on fleaflicker if we want, but getting everyone together for one night is hard.

Nothing wrong with it taking a couple of months, adds for great discussion of picks etc etc, and its the way its been done on here for years.

I would prefer to get it done in a couple of hours. You'd think we would all be available one Sunday arvo or something.

Once again its not impossible, but its very hard to do, and some people like to talk about trades in private, and make them during the draft, which is almost impossible to do in a live draft where you only have a couple of minutes to make your pick.

Also, this is a community driven league where majority rules. All of us have been using flea flicker for years and it is the best fantasy football site i have used and best of all its all free.

.

is the espn site any good from an ease to use and good features standpoint?

i've never joined a league on there.

yahoo is good and will be even better this year.

fleaflicker is also very good. but it's drafts are terrible if you let the computer pick for you.

i like having the draft in the forum as well but am just as amicable to do the draft at one of those sites.

Geez, I walk away and a flurry of posts.

As Monk said, everyone here gets an equal vote, and through that process the owners have elected for 6 playoff spots instead of 4, not much more to say about that one really, top 2 get a bye so there is an advantage in finishing top of the league.

Fleaflicker is the site we have used for our other FF leagues and it has been great, it's free and offers live scoring, I see no reason to use a different site unless it offers some other good features, I don't see the categorisation of DL, LB and DB as a huge issue, leaves more room for flexibility IMO

Monk exaggerated a bit, but we like to do the draft on this forum and it generally takes about a month usually get through 5-6 picks a day, I like this process coz as Monk said it allows for discussion and makes the draft a fun process, don't see why this needs to be changed considering how much time we have till the season starts, anyone else have an issue with this process? We could try to get everyone together to hammer it out in 2hrs but that has proven difficult in the past

If we are doing a draft where there are no trades and we all just use our designated picks then i have no problem going live, but having the draft in the forum adds that extra sense of community and rivalry. Eg. Everyone writing me off after i made the worst trades imaginable in last years Young Ones draft, i ended up coming 3rd.

EDIT: yes, i do like bringing that up over and over again. :D

I agree 100%, and while the activity in this thread so far has been encouraging, for a ~30 round draft i can't see it taking less then 6 weeks.

You can get a chat box or something like that on the front page of the league to talk about trades and other chit chat. ESPN is free, i don't care what site is used, just queried as it seemed like fleaflicker didn't have live drafts.

I was under the impression we would do a live draft.

Again the flurry of posts is because i want to get upto 20 posts so i can post links to my ESPN leagues.

There is nothing you can't do on ESPN to my knowledge. You could make an ESPN league now if you wanted, which would take 5 minutes and change things as you go.
