Is Chairman Spagnolo now a confirmed liar?

Maybe we should quit while we are ahead casper. It seems as though the world has become 'immune' to lying, cheating and stealing.

Our chairman lied, melbourne storm cheated and and ceo stole groceries.

Ffs, what the f**k is the board doing....2 outa 3 is no good.

Maybe next year we can cheat, and get the trifectta.

It's all good, all that is happening is 3P wasps coming out of their nest with their stinging "spin doctored" attacks to protect their interests, plans and whatever else they hide so dear and precious inside their dark cabal-nest, but eventually the wasps exhaust all their energy, the bullsh*t gets seen by tens/hundreds of thousands for what it really is, the resistance grows and grows and grows and inevitably the 3P wasp nest is completely destroyed.

It was reported in one of the media articles as being unanimous.

So whether that means we can truly "know" that is a matter for debate. But I note that Roy's club have not communicated to the members via email about this extraordinary act of forcing a coach out prior to the end of his contract... but had enough time to send some crappy email about where Sparky and Sparkle would be appearing

Forget what was reported in the media. Do you know whether votes were locked and forced Roy to vote therefore making him go back on what he said?
If not then the whole point of this thread is to ??

How do you know they're not gong to communicate their actions after the GF? The report was only completed 2 weeks ago and were forced into acting sooner rather than later.
Membeship drive is an ongoing thing and the email would have been planned well in advance.

SPAGNOLO FLIES UNDER RADAR

ROY SPAGNOLO is fortunate that he has the News Limited press eating out of his hands - otherwise significant questions would be asked. When I revealed a month ago that Stephen Kearney had talks with Paul Osborne, the Eels chairman declared that Daniel Anderson was safe and would keep his job.
http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/ibrahim-ready-to-roar-on-roosters-20101002-161y9.html

just to clear this up - this is from Danny Wiedler - soooo :sarcasm:

danny needs to read the extensive clarification of events that has occurred on this forum - it was not technically a "lie" to the media, it was just a play on words :thumn

Does anyone know what the vote count was by the board to oust DA?
it was reported unanimous, and we will get no better indication then that. anything further is speculation to help your own ideas and agenda

Totally agree with this ..... What a piss weak cop out statement that was giving notice by Email..... I once drove 300 kilometres one evening to sack someone on the spot and did it face to face. Then drove home. It's the ONLY way. There was no phone or mobile or internet coverage where this guy was staying.[/QUOTE]

Would you have driven three hundred miles if there was?

It might surprise you to know, Casper, that ALL NRL clubs are multi-million dollar business. Derr. :sarcasm:
So what? At what point does the club start compromising culture, tradition and performance on-field for the sake of profit?
If the board is so concerned about being economically efficient then by all means they can go and merge with Ernst & Young or something. Atm, however, they have an NRL club to run, there needs to be a fine line between the two.

Bartman and Casper, taking into consideration Haynzeys post (110) and Suitman`s post (122) can either of you describe how you would have handled the situation differently? And we need specifics here - you can`t just say you would have handled it with honesty and integrity. I bet you can`t do it.

You are naive. The Leagues club board is responsible to the LEAGUES club members only and of the 50,000 members at least 30,000 of them couldn't give a rats arse about the football side of things and are only interested in the pokie palace. I doubt many of them even know there is an NRL team. You need to get an understanding of the structure and what is required by the registerd clubs act in order to understand it is required by law to be economically efficient for the benifit of the LEAGUES club members.

I find it funny when people talk about losing culture and tradition etc in realation to this....cos the previous board have such a great track record....just what culture and tradition are we talking about, the one from the 1950's?

I would have rung and arranged to meet face to face - if they wanted to discuss matters over the phone there and then or the following day I would have. Talking over the phone is a lot more credible than doing it by email. I would have more than likely insisted we met urgently face to face to discuss everything.

OK, so he lied if you must insist.
Put yourself in Spagnolo's or Osborne's position.

What would you do, once you have decided you are going to terminate the coaches postion one year short, and you've made that decision 6 weeks out from the semis. Announce it then? Right.

I think it's been pretty well agreed upon that this could have been better handled. Besides actually keeping Anderson on, how could it have been?
I'm really keen to see the answers because as I said earlier, without dropping a bombshell on us now, it's probably been done as painlessly as possible.
Taking into account.....

1. Apparantly, Anderson wanted an extension of his contract, forcing the issue.
2. Osbourne's mission to Melbourne was leaked by the Storm.
3. Eels still in with a chance to make the semis - why confirm it then?
4. Conduct a review of the coach's performances to cover their own arses. (obviously why they did it)
5. Announce his termination during Grand Final time to reduce the amount of coverage it may receive thus softening the blow.
6. Have new coach in position several weeks before training resumes. (best scenario)

Not perfect in anyone's eyes I must admit, but if anyone can give me a better scenario to actually lessen the pain the club will suffer thoughout all this, I'd like to hear it. Obviously, keeping Anderson employed is a bygone issue so will not be accepted as an alternative.
If it was going to happen, I'd like to hear a better way that it could have been handled.

A MAN of integrity would not put himself/herself in a compromised situation where Daniel Andersons contract is to be cut short. Without a hidden agenda there would be no need to remove Daniel Anderson as coach. With an incentive based contract set on on results, say $300K p/a and an extra $400k in his pocket if we win the GF, I would have extended his contract an extra two years, giving him 3 more years to rebuild the culture and the club from the juniors up in his image. More than that I would have been asking Daniel how can I and my team/our club help him. I would get to know everything he thinks and feels. I would question whatever I felt needed to be questioned. I would argue and thrash things out with Daniel until the end, BUT I would do this always with the respect and assurance that Daniel has the final say as coach. I would have made my bed with Daniel and given him my very best. There would be no thought to uproot Daniel as coach until the end of the 5th year. ONLY then would I deal with releasing Daniel or renewing his contract. I would not destroy certainty through the influence of others who would create uncertainty in the club and squad etc, which is what we have had. We have made our bed with Daniel and that is it FULL-STOP. Nothing else comes into the picture including all your points raised. I would not give a stuff about them because I am not into the "looking good" game or worrying about what others think especially over concerns I have no control over. Instead, it is STABILITY that reigns supreme, everyone else must follow order (yes, I would give them an ear as I would encourage Daniel to do to) and for those who don't, and refuse to support wholeheartedly after whatever help, etc, was provided to he/she.... then it will be easy...... chop chop.... good bye. The point is... Daniel Anderson would never have been put in such a position......... as CEO or chairman of the board, I would have NOT created the circumstances of UNCERTAINTY Ray & Paul had "PUT THEMSELVES IN". I would have given Daniel Anderson Full-Responsibility as coach and I would have provided Full-Responsibility to back him all the way for the next 3 years.

You're right Casper, a lie is a lie...
The point I was making is that you need to remember that both sides will lie, twist words, bend the truth and omit information. Sadly this is the world we live in...

You've obviously decided that secondary reports (quite likely lies, twists, bends, omissions etc) about our boards actions are the truth.
It's a bit like thinking that 'the davinci code' will give you truth about Jesus Christ.

Me? I'm not so sure..

If you are a MAN of your word you would not be creating the uncertainty where lies would prosper down-the-line. Where you had (were forced) to cover your tracks of your own doing because your schemes were coming undone and being exposed for all to see. All the uncertainty going on WAS ONLY CAUSED BY OTHER SECRET AGENDAS plotted months in advance. Again a MAN of certainty, this being the board and the ceo, would not have created the chaos we have just experienced for up to 6 months now. FULL-RESPONSIBILITY has a way of knocking out bullsh*t before it even sticks its ugly head up out of the morass to say hello.

Yes, but some of them have a culture that brings them success at the top.

We can also have that wining culture AND not sell out the soul (the traditional culture) of the club that made it great for 12 years to..... We can have our cake and eat it too. This comes with full-responsibility and with no prisoners taken.

Which clubs and do they ever lie or deceive?

Read my post again. The culture I am standing for is the Eels traditional culture, not the cultures found in any other NRL club. It's not my place or interest to investigate other clubs for lies and deceit. Leave that to their members, players, staff, fans, media, etc, to expose if and whenever. I am ONLY interested in the traditional Eels community culture which I have written lots about over the past few months, Explained the reasons why and some of the pros and cons. Regardless of whatever culture runs supreme behind successful clubs, the stability within that culture, starting from the top (front office) to the bottom (juniors) produces results... St George this year, Broncos for many years, the Dogs, Peter Moore and their family club, are a few examples. The Eels had a strong 12 years or so between 1975 to 1986.
