I don't really get the analogy Casper... In a marriage/partnership your dealings are with a primary source, ie partner. In this situation the majority of us are dealing with secondary sources, ie newspapers, radio, internet forums. Even when info passed on is a quote, newspapers and the like twist the message.
There may be insincerity from the board et al, but there is most likely, in my opinion, more from the media and the people on here that take any little skerrick of rumour, insuation and innuendo as gospel and then form elaborate arguments based solely on that 'information'.
The people with the loudest voices, the most vitriolic attacks and the most childish behaviour seem to fall into the latter category as masters of misinformation.

Harm is harm, anyone misled is harmed by lies. Many are harmed by the actions of others misled by lies too. There is no measurement to a lie that takes it from acceptability to non-acceptability or visa versa. A lie spreading between primary or secondary sources still causes damage. sh*t 1 inch or ten foot high is still sh*t. A lie will cause damage across thousands of kilometers, will cause destruction hundreds of miles above or below the surface and will chaos across hundreds of generations. Even containing a lie is not safe as it destroys the container. Until the lie is healed damage is certain. A thousand words or justifications or opinions will never make a lie acceptable.

Sorry but if you can't find him on the phone, you wait an hour for him to call you back. Sacking by email is not on. TBH even sacking by phone is gutless. If you are big enough to take a CEO's pay packet, you're big enough to deal with this type of thing face to face.

Totally agree with this ..... What a piss weak cop out statement that was giving notice by Email..... I once drove 300 kilometres one evening to sack someone on the spot and did it face to face. Then drove home. It's the ONLY way. There was no phone or mobile or internet coverage where this guy was staying.
