And going by the AFL broadcast guide, both prelim finals were shown on 7 mate in Perth also !

Its more an expense issue . They feel they could get more viewers in Perth watching the western rather than the handful that would be interest in the post match.

All FTA channels will be similar.

the answer to that was on Sunday it was buried on the digital channel whilst they played some sht 50’s movie on the main channel! Good to see Ch9 being partners in the games growth

CH9 via their news & various people in SMH articles have been selling a grim picture that the game is gone (it was even along those lines during the first 2 rounds). It seems an obvious financially related directive - for 2020 & also future rights. The content to replace NRL shows & games is typical of that used for cricket washouts.

Hopefully thats what happens. Ofcourse Rugby League will get picked up by someone else. Does 9 honestly think that the NRL needs them and not the other way around ? they cannot be that deluded.

Just saw on Facebook a new show on 9 called “the Greatest” that’s coming soon. Not really sure what it actual is but it makes me think.....

If channel 9 and fox aren’t paying the monthly broadcast monies isn’t that an acknowledgement that they feel the nrl aren’t supplying the contract details and in turn is a ending of the contract rights? If so, how, why can 9 and Foxtel still run replays and nrl content on there channel? Surely “the god” V’landys isn’t that stupid to accept it? Otherwise I’m sure channel 10 and/or espn would be happy to take over?

Who said they are not paying? Channel 9 was alleged to be only considering not paying, while Fox Sports have never mentioned not paying.

The main part of the contract revolves around live NRL games each week; 3 most rounds for Channel 9 & all 8 for Fox League each week.
