Is Cleary a dud?

And he would still be better than Ivan the terrible.
All this has definite similarities to what was being said about Griffin about this time two years ago. Phil Gould will tell you that it's not losing 4 in a row that is the measure of a coach, (Bennett lost 5 in a row on his way to winning a premiership), it is what happens after that.

A coach is a coach is a coach. { or maybe not} A coach should be able to get the best out of his team , each and every time, they may not win but should be to play at their best. If he cannot coach he will be found out.

He has already been found out, that is why we let him go in the first place. Then his mate Dave decided to bring him back! incredible...

Any hope I had for IVAN Cleary is pretty much diminished now after hearing his press conference today.

He pretty much admits he has no idea how to coach attack.
Haven't seen it yet. But that could be a good thing. If he knows he is bad at something he/we might look at hiring someone who isn't.

Hook didnt like having anyone work with him or want to admit he had flaws. HOPEFULLY the fact Ivan owns up to it means he's not too proud to accept help.

Also... hopefully we get him help that actually solves the issue. Not someone who makes it worse. Doesnt fix anything now. But it would be very odd to say that and not look to fix it.

He needs to get rid of Wallace as attacking coach and hire Neil Henry as attac coach / tactical coach as he did a great job for Queensland

There was no admission from Dave's mate. Said he had no idea why they weren't scoring points and crapped on about rhythm but sounded like it was the players' fault, not the coach. So don't expect any coaching changes just yet.

What happens at training?! Do they not train set plays where there is bodies in motion, decoys etc??

I thought you were the 1 on-site?

Maybe they do run the drills but not to the extent that Bellamy does i.e. until the consistently right.

Only when players show up.

Although plenty of the moves Ivan makes could explain why no progress has been made..making changes and not sticking with them:

3 different fullbacks. Each with differing styles. Cruicial position.

Swapping Blake from one edge to the other. Changing who he trains with.

Swapping DWZ from wing. To fullback. To centre. Back to wing. Changing his training.

Swapping Cleary and Maloney... changing all their combinations.

Then there's the injuries to Yeo and Kikau that have disrupted their roles in the team.

Honestly Ivan needs/needed to pick a direction and stick with it if he had reasons for changes stick with them. Changing back just sets you back even further again.

Now he's going with Fuimaono at centre instead of DWZ. People complained he didnt make unforced changes... yet here he is making way too many IMO. Worst part is getting glimpses of what we want to see and changing it to what no one wants to see.

It's a damn shame he didn't actually own up to his flaws though. I was optimistic he would get help and/or advice to solve the issue. Instead he's going to f**k around making changes too quickly to see if the change was actually good or not.

Ie. DWZ at centre. 2 games was not enough to see if he could be a centre.
