I can hardly believe that I may even consider Hook to be better than Dave's Mate. That is quite astonishing considering how terrible Hook was.

I think it’s become pretty clear that Hook got the best out of his teams through discipline, he actually can’t coach much either.

Hook should be a general manger or football, or a coaching director.

Except he apparently isn't very good at working with people which those roles may require.

Still don’t get the issue with working with other people. As head coach surely you live or die by the results, so it should be solely up to you how you want to run the ship?

Yes, except when your methods result in mutiny and the captain is thrown overboard. Like it or not, the coach has to be able to work as part of a team - trying to rule solo with an iron fist is typically a short term approach these days.

I wanna know who instructs our players to kick on tackle 2 10 out from the opposition line when we have been starved of possession and need a try buck has to stop with the coach must be a stupid tactic of his.

I'd love to see a stat that shows how many tackles Penrith waste into the 20.

How often do we do repeated attacking raids? Feels like we just do cyclo-charging every single time.

Don't even use any conditioning tactics on the defence, offloads are basically non-existent, no depth in the attack. Limited support runners when someone makes even a half break. People aren't putting their hand up and no leadership in the team in attack. So many of our players just feel useless in attack now outside of Kikau really but all he has a big running game which is over used.

Defence is an effort thing a lot of the time but I'm sick of hearing that players aren't communicating with each other. I really don't understand why it is so difficult for them to just stay marking their number and covering across when they know numbers are low. The worst is when people get put on their back in defence and can't get up quickly enough for the play the ball. I really don't get what is so difficult now.

If we threw the ball around like a hot potato everybody would have a winge. Keep it safe and everybody winges. Keep it and kick on the sixth winge. Offload and lose the ball winge.

What do they do!

It is like I said when we had hook. Would you rather win easy games and come 6th or 7th or the occasion game beat a good team and be average the rest of the time?

Ivan has a decent record v the top teams but overall sucks. It goes with average coaches. Which most are. Sadly there were 3 good-great coaches available that we skipped

We are 1st in tackles inside the 20. Last in tries scored.. That says it all

Dave's Mate v Hook. 2018 would have said DM hands down. These days I'm on the fence.

There’s little point in having great, young talent if there’s no discipline. Not just on the field, off it as well.

These kids don’t need a mate as their coach. They need someone who sets the expectations and holds them accountable.

It’s easy for young rugby league players to think the grass is greener somewhere else but the reality, it’s not.

By having a weak coach, it undermines the senior players and their ability to get the young blokes in line. You can’t lead front the front if the coach is allowing standards to slip.

Hook understood this and that’s why we got results. That’s why he wasn’t liked but arguably, they played some of their best football under him.

I’d have backed a Hook coached side to come good this year.

As for Ivan, he can review anything he likes but it’s his known traits as a coach which have got him unstuck here.

By that token, there’s a lot that he can’t help. Injuries, sex tapes etc but I just can’t see him straightening the ship. He’s not the coach we need.
