Agree on Tommy Bishop, a class above the rest as playmaker, broken play runner, motivator etc.

Preston and Barry Russell had an air of unpredictability and got you excited, different players to Robbo. Robbo is tough, he defends well, kicking game is mixed, but I'm glad we have him.

Tommy Bishop for sure but it's hard to compare with the modern game and Presto's magic season was probably our best from a half we ever had. Green was great in his prime as well.

Poor Robbo.....he finally gets his own hero-worship thread & you have dumped him ;-)

In the context of our current side playing with a dominant 6, Robson goes well. He is defensively sound and organises the forwards quite well. He has a good short kicking game and a mediocre long kicking game. His passing is OK and running game is just OK.

We haven't had many star halves as a club but even saying that he is not the best.

Russell was great for a couple of years because of Miller. Bishop is before my time so I won't comment but he is clearly the best credentialed. Preston lit the comp up for a season. Green was a very good allround halfback. His passing and running games were superior to Robson, kicking games similar and Robson is a better defender.

Bishop & Russell would surely have to be ahead of Robson.

Robson's attack isn't that flash, which lets him down a little.

He's reliable enough though and being a former Hooker, the kid can tackle very bloody well.

From an outsiders perspective, Tommy Bishop is the best half you guys have had..

He's probably in the top 5 pommy halves of all time..

He was voted the best player in the world in 1970 when at Cronulla..

Add to that list the time Treister9half back size) hit Tallis so hard & buckled him he made TAllis squeel.
Nobody mentioned so far is defensively as hard or as tough as Robbo. Tommy included.

He tries hard but he will be one of those players who quickly fades from memory

I agree and we don't seem to exploit this enough. The try he set up for De Gois on Saturday is a good example.
