Good

I hope they push this, I would love to see the NRL try and claim he isn't fit to play.

they won’t say shit.

I reckon they’ve handed the suspension down now with this “fit” clause specifically so Souths can name him next week and have him free to play next year.

The NRL are meekly just keep calling it a “white substance”. They never declare it as drugs or illicit substance or anything of that nature. That’s very deliberate as such an accusation would be slanderous without proof, of which they have none.

I reckon Souths and the NRL went into negotiations with this in mind, and in exchange for a hugely light punishment (if a player failed an in-season drug test for coke they’d get a hell of a lot more than a week) Souths and latrell agree to accept it so it can be put to bed before the finals start.

Nothing new, NRl has taken this light touch approach to this issue numerous times and they know if they actually came down hard the players would challenge them to prove it was anything illicit.

As they should

The NRL can't prove shit and they know it. They are punishing him for the sake of optics.

A player got $120,000 fines
And 8 weeks suspension
By acting up with a Dog 🐕
Bringing the game into distribute
And now we have this Latrell case

The fit clause is bullshit. I know for off field incidents there’s not the same urgency for punishment to be served immediately. But you can’t just say he has to be fit to play for the suspension. Its delayed indefinitely until he can play.

Just say he is banned for Round 1 next year. If he is fit or injured shouldn’t matter. Or ban him from rest of this year and international fixtures. Looks tough even though he wont miss anything extra.

Its soft by the Rabbits not to impose there own ban, when Bromwich and Procter got caught doing the same thing Gold Coast banned Procter for 4 games and Melbourne banned Bromwich for 2 games and lost his spot in the leadership group.

It's honestly why Mitchell does what the hell he wants... never been held to account for his actions.

Amateur hour again by the NRL. Are they going to do the same with judiciary suspensions?

Also, they could have easily avoided this by just delaying the hand down of the sanctio
Ben Hornby clearly stated that Latrell was takeing the rest of the year off before he put his grubby nose in a pile white powder. How on earth is it ok for him to do his suspension this year based on them facts.
