We had more standalone. Fans didn't double when the merge happened, we didn't all of a sudden double our income or crowds. Both sides lost fans as well.

The only merge benefit was the first year when we had double the cap , but they f**ked us over , superclub they said. Bullshit they cut us in half, if STGI remained double the cap and that was the trade off for merging then it may of been worth it. As it stands all mergers became rabble.

I at the time wanted us to go super league, we made a grave mistake sticking with ARL.

In the 20 years of NRL, those naughty clubs that went to superleague have only won the comp 7 times.

at the end of the day, both the dragons and the steelers didn't have what was required to stay afloat as stand alone entities..

i'd rather be cheering on our JV than being a tigers or magpies fan...

raiders have done f**k all, the warriors are just a basket case.

panthers have won only one comp, as have the dogs and north queensland (we'll address the sharts in a second..).

the only really successful team from superleague have been the broncos, and even then they were successful from inception into the NSWRL.

as for those aqua merkins, they're only successful in recent years.

since superleague they've had years where they were so shit they couldn't even get a sponsor. no-one wanted to be associated with this shit jersey:

they've cheated with peptides, had a player sacked for pissing in his own mouth.

had a player sacked for glassing his missus and blaming it on a mate..

and to top it all off, have only won one premiership in 50 years.

and even then it could very well be stripped from them for salary cap cheating.

And be a club like Cronulla which prostituted itself to Rupert Murdoch’s News Ltd., and it’s filthy lucre?

No thanks. I’m relieved that Saints stuck to its priciples and remained with the ARL.

We would still use their junior nurseries, just not let their administrators have anything to do with running the joint.

Mary, Young and Hornby would not have their jobs.
