My thoughts btw are that no clubs should be relegated, merged or demoted. Bris 2 and perth should be added and eventually NZ2 and Adelaide. No clubs should be bailed out either though, if a club needs financial help then they can choose to merge/relocate/fold.

Well although i agree with your sentiments about not touching the clubs, i seriously doubt Perth and Adelaide will be that close, i could see the Cairn/PNG joint venture bid before either of those two cities get acknowledgement, maybe you more calling out GROTD, might seem less one sided on the the 6agains regarding insults thrown to hey?

Cairns is supposed to be represented by the "north Queensland" cowboys, they're not the Townsville cowboys yet they play all of their home games in 1 small city. I wouldn't mind seeing a Darwin-PNG team though. But i think Perth is a no-brainer for 18th team.

Go look at the ABS website if you don't believe me. Something like 40% of Australians were born overseas or to parents who are from overseas, and most of the new migrants settle in Sydney and Melbourne.

If the competiton could support 20 or more teams then it might be plausible to keep the nine clubs from Sydney, but all the evidence says it cannot. There's not enough talent to fill 16 teams. We haven't seen blow out scores like this since 1995-1996, which was when we had 20 teams. Broadcasters aren't going to fund an extra four teams. Ratings are declining, so if anything we run the risk of losing bargaining power the next time the rights are up for grabs.
