Seriously nick the NRL ain't the law, Why couldn't we just wait and see what the courts where going to dish up, How many times people where I used to work where charged with drink driving and still kept their jobs so why should the NRL be any different.
He plead guilty. He did what they accused him of and what he’s accused of is a violent unprovoked attack on members of the public
Comparing him to other workers isn’t a like for like
Wighton is paid substantially more than most and part of that package is that he’s a face of a major national sporting club, that inheritedly makes the NRL different
He has responsibilities beyond the football field and is compensated accordingly
If he wants to be treated like a regular joe with a regular job, he can give up his pay packet and go and dog ditches, which was his upside in an alternate universe where he isn’t a gifted footballer
Playing professional RL is a privilege, not a right
And he’s not losing his job. He’s being stood down from it as punishment for an abhorrent crime which again HE HAS PLEAD GUILTY TOO
