If he ends up being as good as Jeff Robson in 2009 I’ll be happy. You know why ? Because when you produce your own you always get great value as they usually stay for unders for a substantial part of their career.

Statistically he’ll have done OK if he’s as good as Rob Jeffson. It’s pretty hard to become an elite player.

I am going to be honest. Producing an at best average NRL player has no interest to me. They can be purchased cheap and will not win you a comp.
Dunster is an example of this.He may surprise and become very good but I would lean on a G.Jennings level. Will he be any better then Oldfield or Opacic? You can pick up these type of quality guys anywhere.

I'd rather we produce the odd gun. And we have. Brown,Mahoney could both be great. Jnr is brilliant and so is Matterson. I have high hopes for Kafusi also.
Not against the odd average NRL player. Its fine but it doesn't get me excited and I don't think it will make your squad any better. As I said, you can pick these level guys up anywhere.

We expect all your posts to be honest. Why the need to point it out now?

You rave about how many “juniors” Penrith produce but none of them are really elite.
The purpose of juniors aren’t to be exciting or win you an NRL comp. They’re (or should be if Rorters would stop picking them apart) to give the team options with succession planning and somewhat there to drive the performances of the players who are there to win you a comp.
Dunster isn’t a great example of this admittedly because ok wingers are available regularly, but Jrthur is prime example. As potentially is Penisini and Russell. As was Mahoney back when he was a junior.

I reckon it’s the opposite elite players will always be paid elite money, but constantly producing average NRL players mean you can fill your squad with players on unders.

This allows you to pay for the couple of elite players you need. Most sides are filled with average players and the better sides generally go better as they manage squad better by getting them cheap (roosters, storm, panthers). While the crappy sides need to pay overs to get average players (tigers, Titans, dogs for example).

once the average player wants to much we just let them go and replace with another average junior player .....

I don’t really get a chub in the pants about it either. Just pointing out that they all can’t be superstars.

So you juice boys would rather we produce back ups than super stars in our juniors. Bunch of weirdos.

There's a thing called a salary cap. I'd lke to produce both superstars and solid player. But these days superstars walk regardless of who 'raised' them
