Yep for me there too!. The pool!!...
I remember them building it and the grand opening
The Andrews family from the corner of Park St & Belmore Road ran the swim club in the very early days
Went to the reunion there many years ago and my favourite ever teacher Mr Star turned up (thought he would have long been dead) which blew me away especially when he instantly knew I was one of the three brothers but not quite sure which one.
I think we were the 1st public school ever to get a pool.

Gareth when I was born they were landing on the moon.

Lol - my dear old mum blamed the moon landing on anything and everything that went wrong with the world - floods - droughts - crows falling out of the sky stone-dead . But it was a good year that Sammy , I recall that saxy gal Cher making her appearance on our PYE 21” black and white television - I knew straight away that I wanted one just like her . :relaxed:

I will...My eldest sister would of been in 1st form in 66 I think as she was born 54...LOL
But we lived up the top end in between Forest and Belmore Roads where we knew all neighbours in that section playing in the street but the Williams dont ring a bell.
The old beetroot face of Dougy Nelson the Science Master. Boy you feared him and he could cane. I got 4 cuts from him in Year 9 for pea (paper) shooting a girl towards the front of the class in the head...as she screamed how much it hurt...as if...but I can tell you the cane did
Out of those others you mention Dougy was the only one left by the time I got there

Brilliant stuff.
The old pea shooter, love it!

Incorrect 64..I was one of the youngest in my year born in late may just before the cut off in July to be held back a year

Yep, l flunked kindergarten and had to repeat. We did mathematics, pythagerious and all that stuff back then.... think l failed English too although l think l got dux of the class in woodwork.

The family was going to hold my schooling off till calculators were invented but my future wife didn’t want me attending school with our kids.

lets give it to to okb me and garth are just kids.
Born in 1954, I can relate to most of this conversation. I was around when some trains arriving at the station were steam trains and when trams ran in Sydney. Most of all I was there to see the many famous St George players conquer Rugby Leage in Australia when famously winning 11 consecutive premierships.

Our playing squad, leagues club and Club administration was top shelf during this era. Since then only great coaches Harry Bath and Wayne Bennett have been able to steer our team to win a premiership - 1977, 1979 Harry Bath, 2010 Wyane Bennet.

I heard that you were caught cheating at finger painting in kindergarten.

Yes, I can remember trams running along Harris Street Pyrmont and Ultimo when I was a kid growing up in a two storey terrace house in Harris Street Pyrmont opposite the old Goldsbrough Mort Building which was an auction and brokered wool warehouse then. In fact, I can remember falling once as I tried to board a tram which was just taking off. Luckily I did't hurt myself.

When still living in Pyrmont, the mighty Dragons started their 11 year straight premiership reign from 1956 when I was 9 and so from then on I continued to follow them to this day (as I was born at the St George Hospital I thought, yes, that is the club I will follow). At least that experience will not be taken away from my memory bank. The days listening to the games on the radio as a kid allowed me to realise what a great game it was - particularly when your team was winning most of the times not like now!

Anyway, I hope James Graham's influence next year will be defining. He should be the captain and play the game tougher than he has done so far for the Red V.

Cheers!
