James Maloney...... what do you think so far?

Moylan got injured everyone starting shitting on him and calling for May to replace him and now the same sort of thing is happening to Cleary. MX gets absolutely railed on for being negative but everyone here does it in their own way. Most just suffer from recency bias.

When is the last time you have seen Cleary kick to the corners etc? Cleary is a work in progress at 21 he has many flaws. That is all people say he is still at top half but can learn plenty off Maloney

What a load of shit. Nobody has rounded on Cleary. Cleary is young and very talented. Nobody on this forum has said otherwise, contrary to what you and your mate MX are trying to make out. What Cleary lacks is experience, that's due to his age. Best way to get experience? Play with and learn from someone with experience.

What I look forward to, as everyone else does, perhaps except for you and MX, is for us to have a great halves combination in Clear and Maloney. Cleary will, due to Maloney's age, have to eventually become the dominant half, the only debate that I can see is when that change in dominance should occur. No body is putting shit on Cleary, so don't use MX's bullshit to put shit on posters.

Tom.

This time out will be a blessing. It will get the message that Maloney needs to run the show more.

And don't forget that Cleary picked up the maximum Dally M points for the first two games.

Given this, plus Maloney's form against the Cowboys, there's a lot to look forward to once Cleary is back from injury.

Plus with May due to return soon and with Luai knocking on the door.........:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Watching the replay from Thursday. His defense was even better than I recall. Really impressive performance.

Been away all we. Fantastic to see Maloney play so well, if he can continue that form he will be the buy of the year. Well done to the coach for getting them playing from the start and some decent footy to watch.

Very happy to be made to look so wrong after that game hopefully they continue making me look silly.

Fangs strikes again.

About a 6.5/10 now after 4 rounds. Last nights 9.5/10 performance has improved his standing significantly.

I really hope he has another blinder and we put the Eels to the sword next week.

Now a solid 7/10 after his performance yesterday. Not champagne Maloney, more like sparkling wine. Still gets you pissed all the same.

He made a number of game changing plays. Without him the game was close to lost.

He has been the difference between winning and losing a few of our games this year. Definitely the Cows and yesterdays game. We seem to have more focus and the last 2 weeks have played for the full 80 mins. I think he has a lot to do with that.

The team can only get better from here.

I'm so excited to get Cleary back into this team. Adding that string to our bow is going to be amazing. This time without him might be a blessing in disguise. The team has learned to play tough structured footy with Maloney leading the team.

Pleasing to see him making big defensive plays as well two weeks in a row now. That chase to knock that ball dead was all heart and the craftiness to read play and intercept that pass when Parra were attacking line(the entire second half). To have our big marquee signing making these plays is very pleasing.

Also - just quietly, we may have dodged a bullet missing out on Thurston when we did..... Hard not to agree with Bandy's comments on Fox

???

Thurston was offered a 5 year deal about 6 years ago, we would’ve seen the best of him.

We definitely didn’t dodge a bullet. Dare say we win a premiership in 2014 with him.

Yeah, I thought the same. We would have had him when he was winning a premiership, which sort of vindicates his decision to stay.

He definitely looks a bit tired this year, but shoulder surgery restricts your off season. He will get fitter as the season goes on provided that shoulder isn't now permanently weaker. Shoulders are the hardest joint to repair.

Today's game was an 8/10. Not a great first half but was dynamic in the second. Proctor and Taylor won't sleep well tonight.

That brings Maloney's yearly total to 7.5/10.

Seems clearer and clearer to me that Maloney needs to be the dominant half when Cleary is back, or at minimum it be a 50/50 relationship.

I don’t think we can afford for him to take the secondary role, Nathan is still a bloody good player but he’s got a lot to learn.

I completely agree. We can't go back to letting Cleary run the team. We'd even benefit having Cleary at six and playing what he sees in front of him, but with Maloney staying at 7 and just running the show. I hope to f**k we don't mess with what is working now once Cleary is back.

One thing's for certain. If we didn't have Maloney when Cleary got injured our season would have been derailed.

Although injuries keep mounting. But thankfully we have our essy games now. We can start to get guys back in time for the tough games.
