Jarrod Croker: about to destroy record books near you

Yeah agreed, all jokes and shit aside, the guys had a stellar career and been such a great clubman.
He was named captain at a young age, probably before he was ready for it, and all he's ever done is represent the club and the game well on and off the park. He's extremely likable as evidenced by his 2016 Proven Summons award, and you cant find a junior footy game in canberra that doesnt have some kid in a white head gear with a #3 on the back.

He might never have been good enough to be a rep player but you simply dont accumulate the career stats he's got without being a pretty damn good footballer. He's been a really good servant to the game

Tough situation for him with his body and level of play declining at the end. But it's been a hell of a career.

Its a very, very long road to 300.

Was hoping he'd get it this year and retire. I hope its BS and he is secretly undergoing rehab for a late run in the season.

For all the shit BYC was given over the years he was what every club needs

A solid dependable outside back who won't ever be poached or receive big offers from other clubs.

Knowing you have a decade long servant allows you to allocate cap space to weapons which Canberra were able to do with Leilua and Rapana.

As warm and fuzzy as that post is…Croker is one of the very highest paid centres in the game and on more coin than those “weapons”.

If he is on what was reported ($500 - $600k a year) it is far too much and an embarrassment to whoever made that decision.

You seem completely unaware we had/have BYC on $600k o_O on our books for the next 2 seasons AFTER this, just as an example of how many overs we've thrown at a player who as you say, had no competition for his signature at any stage of his career & was never going to leave.

Bad assumption on my half.

I thought he'd be a Dylan Edwards type player who is most useful to the system he is in.

He was that very effective player up until the end of 2019/start of 2020. Since then an ever steeper decline really. Just that we are paying him too much due to a Ricky style "good bloke" on long terms overs contract. We are saddled with a couple of those at the moment- just paying guys 100/200k too much for what they offer- when we really don't have to because people aren't likely to come try poach Croker or Whitehead at 30 years old.

Croker introducing more record books to Des & Troy. Has any player ever gone from playing reserve grade one week to captaining the first grade team the next?

All young players suffer a bit of a setback eventually. BYC is obviously the best young player so the Bronx will be actively shitting themselves.

I want Hard Earned Carrigan mic'd up again as a first person record of the carnage

I love how the title is about Croker but the content is about food. Says a lot about the guy and let’s be honest, food porn is second only to Sticky meltdowns. Skeepe a close third.
