Jarrod Sammut Contract Situation

I recently spoke to two people in the know at Penrith - re Jarrod Sammutt. (on different occasions)
They answered the same. "He is a know it all and won't listen".
One coached him in his junior days, the other is close to the Club NOW.
They both acknowledged that the kid is an amazing talent.
If he is not getting a run in first grade it is to do with HIS attitude and not his ability..
Shame because I love watching players of his skills and talents go around...

I cannot cop that as an excuse for a coach to drop him. This just pisses me off!

Matt Elliott is suppose to be a f**king professional coach goddamit!!

This is where I come unstuck with ME. All it is going to take is for some other coach like Bennett, Bellamy or even Freddy, as I am watching who I also feel has this same connection with his players, to connect with Sammut and the then that acknowledged amazing talent is transformed onto the playing field for another club.

Matt Elliott led me to believe that Wallace was uncoachable. Take a look at the kid now and see where he has gone under a proper coach who not only knows how to coach a team but individual players. You just have to listen to Wallace talk about Bennett and how much of a mentor he has been to him since walking out of Penrith.

It doesnt matter how much arrogance, how much ego, how much whatever it is that makes them. They are individuals and each individual requires time, patience and persistance. That makes a SUPER coach in my opinion.

Matt Elliott is taking the EASY way out.

It's come to the point that even if we happen to win a premiership under him I would still rate him as the WORST coach ever. And I find that the most ridiculous thing I could ever say. I am turning into a raving nutcase.

I agree.

If we scrape into the 8, top management will come out and say what a brilliant job Elliott did taking a side with so many injuries into the 8, and they'll reward the bastard with a 4 year extension.

I would rather miss out and get rid of Elliott and his bum boy Adamson.
.
And start afresh in 2009 with a new coach. Oh hell I can dream can't I ?
.
.

.

Same. Agreed.

Gotta tel you bro, i think i know 1 of the blokes your refering too who coached him at Doony and i was the one who took him in to my side for over a month to stop him leaving the club. Jazza is a great kid who ive known for a while now and the only thing he would bring to first grade is enthusiasm.
He is always willing to listen and is one of the most down earth kids you would ever meet, and him at 5/8th is your ticket to success. He's one of the few players in this game that can play off the cuff and the game needs more of it. Elliot should pull his head in and pick him at 6, and Graham at 7.

Perfectly said PK.

I agree, I rate Jazz and would welcome him at Tigers. Although not sure our coach is much better than Elliot lol.

Elliot never wanted Jazz, he gave the impression that Jazz wasn't first grade material, then had to use him the end of last year and had to eat his words when Jazz played above expectations.

Its only rumour atm about him coming to Tigers, I hope its true (sorry guys I know you want him, but I'll look after him for you, you know I will :D)

I hope that we lose the remainder of our games, and Matt Elliott gets fired.

I'd rather us finish in 12th or 13th, resulting in him getting fired then i would for us to scrape into the top 8.

Don't disgrace the rest of us Panther supporters by claiming to be one of us. In over 40 years of supporting the Panthers never have I wished them to fail regardless of the Coach, mgt or roster. Go support the rorters - you're the f*ckwit

Well said Tom. I have been a supporter since 1967 as they have allways been my local team and I have nor will I ever wish them to fail.

Oh and PK and MP Matt Elliot is not the worst coach we ever had. That honour belongs to Royce Simmons.

I'm a supporter with passion unlike you. I want the best for our future. Having Matt Elliott upset our players and treat them like sh*t is ruining our club. You're happy to let him do it though.

He forced Peter Wallace out of the team, and he is now forcing Jarrod Sammut out of the team. He took us to a wooden spoon in his first year here, and if it wasn't for Petero Civoniceva, we would be looking at back to back spoons.

In over 40 years of supporting the Panthers never have I wished them to fail regardless of the Coach, mgt or roster.
That's nice. Why do i gave a sh*t about that? You're happy to sit back and accept all this crap. Good for you. I want my club to reach its potential, and that will never happen with Matt Elliott here.

Go support the rorters - you're the f*ckwit/quote]
Mate the only f*ckwits here are those who are happy sitting back and watching Matt Elliott destroy our club. If you truly loved your club, you would want something done about it also.

the important thing here both tom and mx is we all want to win
fact 1.it will not happen under elliott
fact 2.sammut does have a problem with doing what he is told
fact 3.we are stuck with elliott .we can not afford to pay out his half million dollar contract

Lets not bag each other .Tom we all have a right to say how we feel.I have it on good authority several board members would like to punt him but the cost is stopping it.
Now this is just a rumour and not fact but murraymob has approached the club and offered to coach bringing one of the paceways greats in fibro as assistant.
i also know of several sponsors doining behind the scene moves

I hope you had a bib on when you wrote that. That would single handedly have to be the biggest load of dribble I've read in some time.

Hi Murraymob, I, like many others, have an issue with Elliot. But as I have heard rumours that not doing what he is told is one of the lesser problems that Sammut has, I am not prepared to bag out Elliot on that particular point until and if the rumours are proved wrong. And I also beleive in giving credit where credit is due. That goes to both Sammut and Elliot - they have both done some good for the side and hopefully, they have more to offer. But as I said in the previous post, regardless of the coach, management or roster, I will still want my team to suceed, not fail, regardless of what I think of any of the personnel involved. Wishing the team to fail is childish and spiteful and if MX wants to continue in that vain I suggest he takes his bat and goes home.

Tom.

What will be regarded as a successful season by mgt after the wooden spoon. Top 8 or even just missing out after our injury plagued season?

Also if Elliot was to get punted then who do we bring in as coach to replace him. He may be a dud but it would be silly to remove one dud and bring in another dud who'll you'll all soon be calling for their head as well. I mean Graham Murray's without a job now but I'd hardly call him the right man for Penrith, I'm not sure who we can get who'll improve on Elliot, people forget about this.

On the point of coaches, I note the tigers fans are bagging out Sheens, and I thought that he has one of the more impressive records!

I want my team to succeed. That's why i want Matt Elliott gone. No matter what it takes.

It will take a miracle for us to scrape into the top 8, when Matt Elliott insists on playing a centre at halfback. And if we even finish close to the top 8, Matt Elliott will have another year to run our club into the ground.

The longer he is here, the more damage he will cause. Not a single player wanted to sign with the Panthers for next season... we chased a few players, and threw massive money at some of them. We've managed to lose quiet a few players though, and have others wanting to get a release from their contracts.

Tigers have Benji Marshall, they've also signed up Josh Lewis... and are still keen on Jarrod Sammut. Aside from Sammut, the Panthers have Wade Graham and no one else.

Yet our f*ckwit coach won't select him.
The Tigers are losing Hodgson, they'd be looking to either have Sammut or Marshall at fullback and the other at five eighth

Shane Flanagan is the coach I would chase if we got rid of ME.
Current Cronulla assistant coach, coached the undefeated Jersey Flegg winning Roosters side a few years ago

..bob makes a good pint about Flannagan. All reports i have heard about him are good.He is well respected in the coaching ranks. And i think its the direction to take rather than a older coach
some coaches available
Sheens.. No The tiger fans dislike him with a passion. He like elliott
sticks with the same players every week

G.Murray..... Player revolt lead to him being punted from the rooters .We
do not need thisat the club.So its a no

Brown. ...Not to sure.He has had some talented squads at the dragons
but also feel it was the wrong club to start coaching at.since a
lot of the guys he was coaching he played with.
Anderson.....Did a great job in his time at the warriors but has not
coached first grade for a few years

If not Flannagan lets give our u20 coach a shot Georgalliss

Wouldn't give Anderson a go at all. The reason he left Auckland was because he couldn't commmunicate effectively with the Polynesian players.
