Hayne has tried and failed at five-eighth and at centre. Not worth he risk trying him in the halves again and losing Norman imo.

He was a great winger, and developed into a great fullback - eventually learning the defensive side of that position to enable his selection there in representative teams.

Hayne's Rugby 7s gamble is a great option for him, even if he doesn't make the final Olympic squad for Fiji. The NFL dream was clearly over for him... and the change of direction opens up 2017 interest in him from the 15 a side code, while keeping NRL clubs (still) hanging on his every move.

You're kidding right?

Do you know what Brett Kenny and Ray Price and Steve Ella and Eric Grothe our last premiership winners are doing?

Unless he becomes a media man, which I doubt, as he doesnt speak well, NRL spits you out and see you later.

Say he comes back to NRL for $1.2M gets a bad injury like Watmough, how much would he have.

He goes to Jap rugby and makes 3 or 4 times that and the same thing happens.

Where will he be better off?

As I said, the NRL does not look after you post your career unless you get into the media.

You don't need to speak well to be a media man. Just ask Gordon Tallis.

Behind a strong pack it would be different.

However, will we have a strong pack after this year?

Did i read correctly that someone would rather have Norman than Hayne? Maybe if the price was right.

Foran is what makes him look good in the halves. He can play unstructured then but not even arguably in the same league Hayne can.

Move heaven and earth to get Hayne back. The end.
But can we?
We don't have the brown paper bags of other clubs.
The NRL (Greenberg) will look really hard if we try to sign him and find a way to stop us so he goes to the Roosters, Bulldogs or Rabbitohs.

Do we just let Norman go and sign The Plane?

Only half of the released/retiring players contracts were calculated for this year to get us under the cap as contracts start in November.

In 2017, Watmough at $750,000, Peats at $300,000, Morgan on $140,000 and Paulo at 180,000 (his 2016 contract for us) has already been saved. More than enough for Hayne. In addition if we let go of Gordon that extra $200,000 will be used to top up Norman. Don't believe in the media bullshit. We are not in a impossible position. Have you seen how many internationals the Storm have? How about the Cows? How about Brisbane?

I'd be pissed if we missed out on Hayne. It would make it even worse if Hayne was elsewhere and then Foran left at the end of 2017.

Hayne was a great player but I like what we are doing now and where we are going as a squad. We have a toughness and intensity that didn't exist during his time here.

We all know the qualities that Hayne brings but we have to think about what chasing him for top dollar would do to our overall squad. I think it would be a retrograde step. Time to move on folks.

The missing toughness was not because of Hayne.

He used to make alot of try saving tackles - getting under the player, last man defense and even stripping the ball.

Furthermore, long distance kicking will be solved. FB chiming in and setting up the wingers will be solved.

What was that thing about a premiership after a salary cap scandal?

Yep. We should be able squeeze him in no problems. We have shit loads of room in our cap.

Probably wont even have to lose any other players or weaken the squad in any way to accommodate him either.

I cant believe we haven't signed him already.

Also don't forget we have a pretty "tradesmen" like forward pack without any real stars compared to some other sides. We probably spend less on our pack compared to other sides.

If we chased Hayne, we really would only need to re-sign wicks / Tyrell / de gois and look for a "cheapie" prop which should free up some cash to re-sign Norman and chase Hayne.
