Jarryd Hayne buggers off from NFL

I did. Olympic 7s rugby is a good platform from which he can command a Euro or Japanese rugby deal. A deal from Europe or Japan would open those territories to Hayne's "brand", his clothing line, and whatever else he and his manager can get off the ground. It would be more lucrative to him than an Australian deal, and leave him more in control of his "image" than being back here in the fishbowl.


Initially I suggested he wouldn't make the cut. Now I can see he's only quitting because he won't make a go of it (starting team, week in week out) and now there is no more money to be made for his brand from that territory.

Our media are onto him now ;-).

How can he be a loser if he quit? The truth never gets in the way of a good story for the media. Him quitting suits them so they can make stories up and lay the boot in until he does something great again and then he can make them even more money.

I know what the stepping stone could be for offers but i do not believe that is his motive. He is a league player, he hasn't played rugby, if he doesn't go back to the 49ers i think he will request to play for us.......

I would say that the opportunity to compete in the olympic games which as a person who grew up in track and field dreaming of going to an olympics would have been right there with playing for either of his countries in rugby league, which he has done.

He already achieved what he wanted to, he made an NFL starting team without any experience, the olympics will be his last achievement until he comes back and leads us to premiership glory.

He has won a SOO series and a WC too. The GF will be his very last achievement to get.

I just don't know why you post so much about him just to lay the boot in? You are worse than the media to be honest, at least they get paid to lay the boot into people.

Hayne will certainly never look back and wonder what if. He has a crack and doesn't play it safe. He's not afraid to fail, not having a go to him would be a failure.

I don't think the 49ers is somewhere you can waltz back into having avoided all the pre-season training under a new coach's playbook. However the 49ers contract will prevent him joining another NFL team without their belssing.

I'm not sure we'll be able to afford him, as teams are desperate and will outbid us for marquee level raw talent. This is despite Hayne by 2017 having had two whole seasons away from the game and its training techniques. And he wasn't interested in a GF win in his fareweel speech, thought he had already achieved everything in league there was to achieve...

I'm answering your posts directed at me! Just because we don't agree that the sun shines out of Hayne's arse doesn't mean I'm laying the boot in.

I wish Hayne well in his pusruit of a Union contract, and the expansion of his "brand" into Europe or Japan while still stringing his Aussie fans along :cool:.

I watched Hayne's efforts. He had limited game time and the media's tag of "uninspiring" was harsh.

Having said that he looks slower and less agile and I hoped.

If Hayne is to make the Fiji Olympics squad IMO, he will need to learn the game to the point that it is instinctive, trim down from light heavyweight to middleweight all in about 30 days.

He did look slow but thats because most times hes getting the ball from a standing start rather than running onto the ball or catching it from a kick

Remember in circa 2009 when he would run at pace, poke his nose through the line and then surge through ? He had the ability to instantly drop into top gear and leave defenders in his wake. His Fiji team mates can do that. If Hayne is to succeed in this venture, he will need to find that instant burst from 4th to 5th gear that we all know he has inside him. Qn is: does he has that 5th gear anymore ?

Haynsey just needed to play in some higher level of competition that is more competitive than 49er's training so that he's fitter when he comes back to the Eels.�������������������������� ������������������������

Yes but that was 7 years ago.

He is alot chunkier now but no doubt will be able to get back down in weight and fitness
