49ers have benched Kap for Blaine Gabbert

Well, I guess they'll know that he'll stay in the pocket and play a 'normal' QB game. Not sure how much it'll help. He is only 26 though (despite being in the NFL since 2011), and started his career in a genuinely crap team, so maybe he's better than his career record suggests.

The only other thing I could think of Baz is that he knows that he is on a hiding to nowhere behind that O-Line. Gabbert is already seen as damaged goods prior to getting picked up by the 49ers and there is no way he could improve that reputation in 2015/16.

Might as well let Kaep keep taking the bullets in his view...

#49ers trade Staley; Gabbert declines the starting QB job ...

After seeing your post I started scouring the net trying to find confirm both of these.
Can't seem to find anything concrete, but it is a rumour going round.

Trading Staley would be one of the dumbest things this team has ever done. He is the best offensive lineman in the team (and one of the best in the NFL) and they decide to get rid of him when their O-line is suffering and their QBs have no confidence!

I thought it was hard being an Eels fan, but at least I can vote to change the leadership every 4 years if they are doing terribly. But with this completel f**kup of a team I'm stuck with a Silver Spoon Douchebag who has no idea whatsoever about running a multi-million dollar organisation. He's just a spoilt rich kid who's been given a new toy. Probelm is he is so young he won't even die soon.....unless the Niners fans actually see him out in the street.

You could well be right, but I reckon he might say 'I'm on backup wages ($1m a season :)) and I'm happy to replace an injured QB at that rate, but if I'm No. 1, I want to be paid more. You guys have just moved Vernon Davis out of your cap spend, and you have money. Kaching.'

Good point. The 49ers have almost set themselves up to be held to ransom here. Dear god though, Blaine f**king Gabbert is holding the edge at the negotiation table...you wouldn't dare ever think it possible! Truly the darkest timeline for the 49ers.

Gabbert is a gun.

Actually, that's not true. I've never head of Gabbert.

Gabbert was rated quite highly coming out of college, and was a first round pick in 2011 for Jacksonville.

Problem was that the Jags were terrible and their O-line was shot. Gabbert lost all confidence and looks scared in the pocket.

So basically he's just like Kaepernick. At least Kap has shown something in the NFL (albeit with a great O-line and defence).

Amazing to think we were contenders just 2 years ago.
3 years ago we were in a Superbowl.

Jed York and Trent Baalke could write a book on how to completely destroy a team.

Not sure about this. I'm pretty certain that he is that annoying little puppet from the Simpsons.
