There is no reason to think that these guys will perform at all adequately. Hayne is still on the PS. There is no reason to think that he wont get more game time this year and next year.

The timing of the waiver was done to maximise the chance of Hayne clearing and coming back to SF. Which is what happened. No team puts players who are in demand, and they want to keep on waivers in the first place.

It was very unlikely that anyone would pick him up. To do so, they would have to move one of their existing players out of their 53 man roster, and put Hayne on that roster. It's not open slather.

It tell me that Hayne is just around for a chance to improve during the offseason and maybe break out next preseason. Considering he already kind of did that this year, it doesn't look good. Obviously the fumbles are the big killer. I hope he sticks it out and gets another shot, maybe even this season once the fate of the coaching staff is truly sealed.

It tells me that Hayne is a rookie who still has a lot to learn.
They still have him on the practice squad which means they think he's worth keeping around.

He seriously is a beast - he breaks tackles like a boss, and he's quick and elusive.
