I did think we went alright today.
Took one of the League heavyweights down to the wire. Good defence.

Still lost but. Which to be honest, I'm not that upset about. We put in an entertaining game (where we got royally screwed by the shithouse refs), but we are still in the box seat for a high draft pick. I'll be fine if the rest of our games this season are like that.

c'mon Eele, we won on Monday. There was a period in the middle where we were 2nd behind Saints for TD's scored in a 4 week period.

I never said that cheating was OK and I am not sure what the commentary about being "as good a person as me" is about.hed

Just made the fairly obvious point that Storm dudded everyone that year, not just Parramatta. Not sure how that is even in dispute.

They did dud everyone, but only Parra made the Grand Final. The only other 2 teams with a complaint were Manly and the Broncs (because the Storm knocked them both out). But the Storm put 40 on each of them...

If the NRL had the balls to simply come out and say 'ok, cheats are cheaters, give back the premiership rings and Parra and Manly get a premiership each' (Manly got dudded in 2007).

Sure, everyone got dudded by the Storm, but the teams who actually made the Grand Final are the ones who ought to be rewarded aren't they? It just looks stupid to have 'no winner' for the 2007 and 2009 competitions... as Gronk has said, in any other sport, when someone is eliminated for cheating, the person who managed to finish next is awarded the medal. No doubt it feels better to win it on the day - but for the sake of the records eliminate the cheats and award the premiership elsewhere!!

Hayne set for re-call?

There is talk that Jarryd Hayne is likely to get a run against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

He'll play as a punt returner or running back.
"If he does, it's going to be absolutely essential that he performs at his high pre-season standard," said Matty Johns, on Triple M's Grill Team. Watch the videos below.
"Talk out of San Francisco is that he's been performing really well in practice, so you sort of get that feeling if he gets a start against Chicago you got a feeling you might see the best of Hayne."

Its quite disappointing the bandwagon fell off the rails .... I was all pumped for an off-season of watching NFL with hayne ... now nothing :(

Would be intereting to see how Hayne would perform at safety.
It is the last line of defence, just like an NRL fullback, but you need to be very good at reading the play to know whether to come up to defend the run or stay back and cover the receivers.

He likely would have made a very good safety if he was a proper product of the NFL but I doubt Hayne has the nuance to read a QB as he makes his progressions.

Athletically I honestly think Hayne is up there with some of the best in the NFL, barring the absolute freaks like Mack/Watt/Gronkowski etc and he could have made a fist of a couple of positions (RB, SS/FS and probably a very good possession receiver as he has superb hands and the frame to play physical against coverage) had he come through the high school or even just college system.

Yeah I agree with all that.
Would be interesting to see how he would have gone if he went over there sooner...but I'm still happy he stayed with the Eels for as long as he did.

at the time a reporter talked to one of the eels trainers about this and he said if caylo and hindy were given the storm's premiership rings one would go over the back fence and the other down the toilet

but its not just the premierships they won, its that their team was kept together illegally while others had to dismantle their squads

look at how huge inglis has been for the bunnies without the cheating i guarantee that squad would not have stayed together and who knows what the outcome could be? maybe the warriors could have signed slater or the knights signed cronk

this just shows how massive the outcome of their cheating was we can't even guess how things would have turned out if they didn't do it

Saying "sure everyone got dudded" and "award it to Parra because they made the grand final" seems incongruous.

The example that Gronk gave was the 100m sprint. Seems fairer to award it to second place as the top 8 people are all racing together. However, I would also not have a winner in this instance.

With a league finals series there are too many perms and coms and there is very little certainty over whether the GF runner up deserves having the premiership handed to them.

I have no problem with no premiership being awarded for 2007 and 2009. The media just needs to stop referring to the Storm as "Premiership winners" for those years.

Ive never agreed with giving it to us/manly. But the problem is the media will never stop saying they won it unless potentially they do give it to us and our names end up in the books instead. Might at least be a deterant to saying the cheats won

Fair point.
