And I'm not bringing him down, I'm just providing his current coaches' quotes about his performance. That can't be counted as "bringing him down"?

Dont kid yourself. You ARE bringing him down. You are gleefully presenting what was said in a way to bring him down.

I just don't get it. He is not overrated. He is without a doubt the most naturally talented player I have ever seen. A phenomenal athlete and a player I would welcome back in a millisecond.

So you have a dig at jarryd as a way of having a go at people who u think overrate him?
Just quoting quotes about his current form by his own coaches - is that having a dig, or just commenting on what's happening?

Avenger asked about dislike - and I responded I dislike how Hayne is overated, and his continued management/media hype. (I don't dislike Hayne, and enjoyed the secon half of 2009 as much as anyone.)

By definition, if people look at his playing career with rose coloured glasses and can't see his faults (no player is perfect, and Jarryd was far from consistent), then that is what perpetuates the overrating and hype.

Just in my opinion, of course.

You are entitled to it mate, but are you telling me that if he made himself available in 2016 you wouldn't try and recruit him?

Gleefully? You sure read a lot into some text typed on the internet... The coach's quote about practicing hard makes me laugh - hence the  icon.

And you're entitled to your opinion.

But I am also entitled to not agree, and the 49ers coaches are also entitled to their opinions about his current value (amidst all of the management/media hype).

Exactly. He'd want overs, and after 18 months out of the game I wouldn't make him an offer. (But I respect your opinion that you would.)

Besides that, he's been (selfishly) disruptive to our recruitment for one season already - leaving his contract one year early, at a time when it was impossibe to replace him. Making him a 2016 offer at this stage would only serve to disrupt the squa for a second season running, simply to cater to the guy's whims.

Your continual obsession with the laughing emoticon just makes u seem like a dick tbh

Its not haynes fault the media went off like fkn morons to try and cash in on the hayne hype ... no one orchestrated it. It was the medias decision to try and sensationalise it for their own purposes

I didn't think he would make it at all. He surprised me. However I think he is wasting his talent and future potential earnings by staying in NFL.

Come home Hayne. I reckon if Hayne came back and returned to normal form we could win the comp in the next 2 years with our current squad.

So using the laughing emoticon equals an obsession - a suggstion ended by a laughing emoticon itself:crazy:.

Seriously? Don't you remember the media conference, complete with corproate sponsor logos and a "reveal" of which club he had "chosen" after weeks of artciles fed to the media by his management, fuelling speculation... Yep, not orchestrated at all  (couldn't resist).

He surprised me too. And I agree he would have earned more staying in league.

But as his on field form showed, after the Origin series win his heart clearly wasn't in league anymore. He could have easily got us a place in the 2014 finals, but only turned up for parts of his final games.

Our curent squad is much improved - but (to paraphrase Pou) only because we have been able to spend the money that would otherwise be paid to Hayne on other players.

Reading between the lines these quotes suggest that perhaps Jarryd tried to pull his "I only want to play fullback" trick, only this time it backfired?

49ers special teams co-ordinator Thomas McGaughey on Hayne:
"When you just kind of come in and say, ?OK, I?m a punt returner or I just play running back, you don?t really know all the nuances of the game."

"
You can?t throw in 18 years worth of situations in six months. It takes 21 years to be 21 years old. That?s just the reality of it. (Hayne) needs to find his way to speed the process up."

49ers coach Jim Tomsula on Hayne:
"We see Jarryd in practice and he?s practicing very hard."

Either that our Hayne's attitude wasn't matched by his real season performances, and it wasn't worth feeding the ego/hype by keeping (or returning) him in the 53?

 Not obsessed at all.

Past history Jake, Hayne's moved on - left us early in fact - to play another code.

But at least he's "practicing very hard". Can you imagine if a NRL coach gave that quote about a player he'd dumped to reserve grade?.
If only you would.

A lot of people don't know this, but Bartman went to the same school as Hayne. Hayne was very popular and well liked. Bartman on the other hand, had two friends that called themselves 'Cosine' and 'Pythagoras' (Bartman was known as 'Labirynth').

One day a new girl came to school. Bartman had a crush on her and invited her to come around to his house and watch 'The man who fell to earth'. Sadly, she never turned up and a few days later Bartman found out that she went to watch Hayne train with his football team instead.

This was the beginning of a long standing grudge that Bartman still holds to this day.

Well......largely....he did sign up with Telstra to do the 'cover my NFL journey stuff'. It certainly doesn't reduce the hype, but frankly, he's free to do what he wants. It's not hard say 'I'm not going to click that link' (except if it says 'Congratulations! You are the 1 millionth visitor to this site').
