Well, you know, it's okay to be wrong about something. And you are. Jarryd Hayne, for years, has been a ridiculously talented athlete ................. and underrated. His whole career he's been underrated. With people saying he has a bad attitude and that he's lazy and that he drifts in and out of games and, and, and ..... All bullshit. All myth. The guy is, was, and always will be a champion. An underrated one.

1) I'm not wrong;

2) Yes, Hayne is a ridiculously talented athlete;

3) No, he is not underrated;

4) He is lazy and drifts in and out of matches. That was my criticism of him.

...and that's why he is suited to NFL, as I mentioned in my first post. It seems as if he has found his true sport.

All you guys are doing is showing how braindead you are. I don't think anyone else here could form an objective position if their life depended on it.

Americans are very insular with lot of what they do - if you have a look at the clip of the Willy Mays catch, its not anything special compared to a shit load of cricket grabs yet the seppos are still wanking over it.

Also, with Hayne - the merkins got a monster f**king boot on him as well, the f**ker would probably make it as a punter too.

So true.

I always thought Hayne would make it, or at least do ok over there, not so much because of his talent, but because of the way he applies himself to everything he attempts. He doesn't accept failure, and is no lazy arse.

What has since transpired, is also less of a surprise to me.
Why?
Because he is doing what he is good at.
He has shown since he was a kid, that given some space, he is a runner beyond comparison amongst his peers.
As a 13 y.o at Minto, then as an 18 y.o. in his debut year in the NRL, then as a S.O.O. player for NSW or an International. He has carved up all levels of Rugby League.
Why, given the same space in the NFL, would he not be capable of doing the same? It's not beyond the realms of possibility that he'll become a better NFL player than he was a league player, given the intricacies of that game and the fact he'll only need to focus on certain aspects.
Let's not forget, he has played just 2 games of competitive NFL in his life. Already, he is a talking point.
Sure, there will be harder days to come, and the critics are just champing at the bit to bring Jarryd down. Human nature can be a strange beast at times.
But in my mind, he has already been a success. Why? Because he has already exceeded the expectations of most. Just like he did in League. That's good enough for me.

On another note, I DO find it slightly amusing at what the Yanks are shocked at what he can do.
HELLO AMERICA!!! Catching a football over your shoulder? Gee whiz. What a skill. Palming (stiff arming players) ? Ahm, Hello!!!!
Last week one commentator was impressed that he could change the ball from arm to arm to push away defenders? WTF? Is it only Americans that have these skills or know how? LOL@Yanks.

I've read on a few forums that they should throw him in as punter every now and then with the option of running it or kicking it. Could well revolutionize special teams but I'd doubt the 49ers coaching staff have the balls to give it a crack.

You know more than me about the game. It's a shame they wouldn't try something different. Hayne would be great at reading such a play.

He isn't suited to NFL at all. He can do everything outstanding well but the NFL only asks that you do one thing well.

And as for the "lazy" comment, I'd suggest that you could be referring to yourself as you obviously couldn't be bothered watching him play for the Eels over his career.

I've never been happier for you to be proven wrong either, nor anyone else who doubted him and his chances of success.
I've explained my reasons above.

I also have this massive sense of relief that we don't have to put up with the speculation of him playing against us in the NRL. Our team and our fans do not deserve that.

Funny that you would even contemplate that thought. :?
That thought has never crossed my mind.

Ive got f**k all knowledge of the game - but it does seem to be very set in it ways to some degree. To me, it s just footy with forward passes & shepards & lots of breaks in play. I wonder how'd they react to a few lateral R.League type plays? Good old fashioned wrap around with a chip & chase, sideways face ball across 6 decoy runners?

Every decent Parra fan wants him to make it. The bloke is a freak best junior talent and greatest eel I have ever seen. Now he's getting the exposure / treatment that he rightly deserves. His talents and Athletic ability were far too great for the NRL

yeah I had major doubts he'd make it - not cos he is not capable, but more cos the yanks generally don't believe anyone else can do what they do especially at 27 years old

I've followed NBA for quite a while and it took a long time before many europeans and south americans could crack it in the NBA - the yanks just didn't believe they were athletic enough - and they weren't but they we often more skilful

Obviously hasn't seen the Rams play- The tricksters of the NFL. There a pesky bunch those rams.

Just like nrl thou - Chip and chase gone-Intercepts too risky could create a gap gone-Charge down gone - Percentage play.

NFL is an amazing game and guys here will convert. It can be a bit slow and thats its down fall. But you never know whats coming.Its just a great game. Different match ups-Running teams vs passing etc.

HJ your beeing a little harsh on the guy but yeah some guys on here constantly bag Luke Burt and all he did for our club. This in itself is frustrating. Probably the same guys who bagged Cayless and hindmarsh for staying too long.

And how many of you guys bagged me and RON for talking about NFL ? Some real dick pullers on here TBH.
