Yep....and I'm not very happy about it. They just went from having the 5th pick in next years draft to now having the 7th. All because they won a meaningless game.

I love the sport, I really do. But there is something wrong when I am unhappy that my team wins a game because of draft picks. This is why I hope the NRL never has a draft.

Yeah. Seeing people obsessed with draft picks and watching teams deliberately lose is shit and has turned me off some sports in the past.

On top of that look at the incentive for being the No1 draft pick. Congratulations on being the best college olayer all year, as your prize you can go to the worst team in the league

But most teams do not tank.

Look at phili vs Giants. Both tried too win it.

Same goes for every game in rnd 17 of the NFL. Rams tried to win as did san fran.Oakland-Browns. Not one team went out too tank.

There is no tanking.

I have no time for fans who want their own team to lose. For any reason.

I enjoyed the win. Felt good to see it happen, and in such dramatic style.
But winning that game did nothing for the club. In fact, it actually made them worse off. We still have a pretty high pick, so it isn't too bad...but they may miss out on a couple of players they desperately need because of that win.

Tanking does happen for sure though but I think it tends to be for teams vying for the top pick or top five picks. Was it the Bucs last year that took out a stack of starters in the second half of their last game which clinched the #1 pick?

They ended up with Winston and the Titans got Mariota, both of whom look pretty legit but this year's draft is one of the weakest for QBs in a while. Most mocks I have seen have the 49ers taking Goff in the first round but given that Manziel has gone off the rails (again) I can see the Browns taking him with the #2 pick.

Another twist to the next draft will be the fact that compensatory picks can now be used in trades.

Yep, so your team wins but ultimately loses.

Drafting is nowhere near that accurate.Splitting hairs over low draft positions is a non issue. All the hype keeps the news cycle going in the off season.

Exactly - Russel wilson went in rnd 3. And we all know about Brady.

I think a first rnd pick is about a 50% success rate they say. Is there a huge difference between a 4th or 7th pick? You would only be tanking one game so it wont effect your draft pick a hell of a lot.

If tanking didn't happen then they wouldn't have come up with a word for it!

It totally happens. While you are reading this, several shit teams throughout the world are concerned about how next years draft will play out. These concerns are undoubtedly influencing their approach to the remainder of the current season.

I think you've just come up with a way to prove the existence of God.

Oh, he exists Lingard and you've just made him very mad.

He will probably make Parramattta miss the 8 next year. If that happens then I am holding you responsible.
