I am not up to speed with police operations and procedures, but if you take the recent terrorist arrests in Melbourne, the Police were happy to share certain evidence shortly after the arrest and they even said they were still investigating and gathering further evidence.

How is that different from the release of info on Hayne ?

a statement from police where they were very general (certain evidence) without being explicitly detailed

vs

almost daily updates through the tabloids explicitly detailed

Ok, but I'm sure that they do release info to the media for other arrests and state that police will allege something something.

The merkin who allegedly assaulted the young girl in a Kogarah dance studio toilet was arrested a week ago and new info is being reported daily.

I am just guessing that those communications were not to her satisfaction.

I have no opinion of guilt (consent or assault) however. We'll see when it goes to trial.

I've never seen or heard of leaks of this magnitude from the police (it is almost as bad as leaks fro Parra), they seem to be in melt down.
I think a court will be disgusted by this and it makes me wonder if they know it is not going to go well.

that way they can blame the courts instead of themselves for having charged someone when their case was worse than Bevan French's defence
