Like who? Which younger outside back that can cover a range of positions worth around 700k is available that wants to come play for us next year?

And don’t say Ferguson as he is already signed. I’m talking available now instead of Hayne

We aint winning a comp in 2019. I'm sure in 2020 plenty be available.
DWZ wouldnt cost more then 450k. A young guy on the rise. And a few hundred thousand spare.
If Hayne goes we can always do this

1 Bevan/Gutherson/Norman
2 Jennings,Sivo,Hoffman,Dunster
3 MJ
4 Gutherson/Taka
5 Fergo
6 Moses
7 Norman/Brown/Salmon

Multiple options at club already. I dont mind idea of Norman at the back and blooding Brown or Salmon. Taka can do a job in centres and isn't the complete uesless player people want to make out he is.

If I had 700k to spare it would be spent chasing a prop and sorting backline within. The idea of Lodge or Tapau over Hayne appeals to the better of the side. Especialy while we have Taka,Bevan,Hoffman probably not part of the top 17 if Haynes signed along with Brown & Salmon who could push Norman to fullback.Thats 5 solutions inside club already.

Hayne
Jennings
Mj
Guth
Fergo
Norm
Moses

Writing off 2019 already?

Those options you have presented will see us in contention for another spoon next year.

No contract offer could mean he (or his manager) don't like our offered terms. So we could just not be offering enough and he could say there's been no offer.

Maybe we just don't want to be held to ransom by him (or anyone else) ever again.
And rightly so

Very dark side of the game but not unexpected.

Players are always trying to climb over each other. The system encourages it.

Merely a reflection of how societies and business are organised.

“Live and let die”

Hed probably make for a good movie actor post career. Handsome enough.

Panthers would be the best stadium choice.

If Taka is in our full strength top 17 next year you may as well knock me out now and wake me up in 12 months when we’ll be having the same discussions. He be lucky to make the top 30 squad in more than 2 or 3 clubs in the comp

He is 29. Taka may not be elite but does a job.

We might be writing off 2020 as well if he signs.
My options are fine. It would mean a top shelf forward joins us.

Your writing off Bevan French, Dylan Brown, J Salmon. And every other junior I mentioned.

Like Kane Evans?

I definitely have written off French and Salmon is not a 5/8. Brown is a complete unknown at this point.

You also had Taka as an option who is useless these days.

2018 Taka was great. He was good in the 2nd row and in 2018 but hey most our team wasn't. Bevan,MJ,Moses,Norman,Hayne bar last 7 games.... Bar Alvaro and Terepo most forwards just plodded along.

He is 29. Taka may not be elite but does a job.

I think Semi being outside him and them having a strong understanding in attack together probably shielded some of the pretty glaring deficiencies in Taka’s game.

He was rubbish in all aspects of play this year.

He is fine as a backup player, a wenty starter that can step up for the odd game here and there when injury (or rep duty *cough cough*) opens up spots, but we are never going to be a top 8 team outside of one season wonders such as in 2017 when we have a team filled with players whose best allows them to “do a job”.

Since he made his debut in 2006, Hayne has more highlights reels than some players have had in a career. I’ve been watching my team since the mid 1970’s and in my opinion he stands as tall as Sterling, Price and Kenny. When he fires, we usually win and he has basically done it on his own unlike players like Slater who has the best hooker that has ever played the game and one mighty halfback to support him. Similar arguments can be made with Brett Stewart and Matt Bowen.

I know that Hopoate is coming in 2014 but if Kearney and co thinks that a player that has had 2 years off can replace Hayne they have rocks in their head. Forget the new recruits, this man should be priority number 1 and be made an Eel for Life. Nothing besides a premiership would make me happier.

Enjoy. My kid has watched this video about 1000 times.

Yes. Or Maybe.

He's definitely had enough highlights to be spoken of alongside Sterling, Kenny, Grothe, Cronin and Price - the greats of my lifetime. And he's only 24 or something with so much potential to come.

Part of what made those guys great was that they were one club players. It's a big ask in the modern game, but I hope Jarryd goes onto achieve a similar feat. I just fear that he hasn't quite "found himself" or reached his full potential, and might be tempted into a cross code switch (or a shift away from Parra if we aren't toward the top of table early next season).

Bartman being moderately positive about JH.
